There's so many different combinations of tier levels that they could implement. It would be nice to see people have to pick and choose who they want to insert into the lineup instead of just juicing it up. I was informed that they used to do something like that, but they did away with it this year. They could still have a free-for-all area for those who want it. C'mon, 2K. ****.

Why are there no lineup restrictions?
This is my first time really messing with MyTeam. It's cool, but I'm kind of irritated that there are no restrictions on lineups whatsoever. It's not a lot of fun playing these HOF squads with my all 70's rotation. I'm in these games, but even still.

Re: Why are there no lineup restrictions?
Some people wanted to play myteam, but since they were not very good players they would never reach the unrestricted line-ups, and they could not use the players they wanted.
Fair enough that is totally unrestricted. The messy thing is that you can have unrestricted in pro-all star settings...
It has been said again in this forumthat a lot of people would enjoy a fully restricted laddertoo, that would require skill to assemble a good squad, not just pick 13 superstarsComment

Re: Why are there no lineup restrictions?
They should have just done the tiers by team OVR rating so that you could still try use 1 or 2 great players and the rest scrubs or use a more balanced lineup etc. I agree at not enjoying the instantly unrestricted as much as there is even less reason to use lower ranked players.Comment

Re: Why are there no lineup restrictions?
No, unless you consider this a similar overall. This is what most of my matches look like. His bench was Durant, McCollum, Jay Williams, Lillard, Drummond, Love, Wiggins.
I'm fighting my *** off in these games to have a chance at the end. I wish that we were able to put more thought into the lineup and have a somewhat more even competitive playing field.

Re: Why are there no lineup restrictions?
Smh, straight from the MyTeam blog. Hopefully it's just a glitch that'll be patched, or it's due to the game not being able to find another player with a similar OVRComment

Re: Why are there no lineup restrictions?
Obviously not. I guess they weight both Team OVR and also the player's record/margin of winning or loss or whatever. And that it's a mixture, not virtual brackets excluding mixing of very different OVR's.
Unfortunately, then, if you're very good and have a, say, Gold team, then that means you'll get matched up against players who are not as skilled, but who have stronger teams.Comment

Re: Why are there no lineup restrictions?
All i can say is that this is highly disappointing. We were supposed to have matchmaking based on team quality but i guess skill level plays a larger part in their equation than i hoped for.
In theory it sounded perfect imo, after all i've wanted this since the first myteam. If they would've done it properly everyone could just use whatever restrictions they prefer. Obviously you still can, but it looks like it won't be any different from previous games. I hope they fix it. Is it really too much to ask to play against a similar team? I like using a realistic and balanced roster, i don't like having to go up against an all time dream team. Especially in a game like 2k17 (and 16 as well, 13/14/15 were different) where ratings and badges take over.Comment

Re: Why are there no lineup restrictions?
Imo myteam online has nothing different than rttp but without lineup restrictions.
The only better thing I see vs last year is that if you are on the ruby league and above you might not be matching against players from lower difficulty levels.
I yet have to play a game with difficulty rating at 1.25 when I got to ruby league
That being said I had already said prerelease that 2k would never match based on team overalls. A) it doesn't have so many players especially in EU.
B) 2k wants you to force you buy packs to stay competitiveComment

Re: Why are there no lineup restrictions?
I could imagine, on PC, that OVR parity cannot be paramount because of low population.
But I would expect with consoles, especially PS4, to find matches between players with similar records...AND similar OVR rosters.
Hopefully the issue, right now, is something faulty in their formula or matchmaking system, that can be patched.Comment

Re: Why are there no lineup restrictions?
My first game in the bronze league I faced a guy with the entire handles set. I also had a team with 2 diamonds and an amythyst. seems like the low level players are just weeded out and I'm ok with thatI could imagine, on PC, that OVR parity cannot be paramount because of low population.
