    Do you enjoy MTO?

    Whats good guys?

As I'm trying to learn multiple playbooks and freelances to keep MTO challenging and fun, I witness that I mostly face two kinds of opponents:

    a) guy with athletic team holding down R2 and spamming cuts
    b) guy with all 3PT shooting team spacing and spammings 3s non stop

Sometimes hybrids of those with some cheesy players mixed up like Bradley and Bol and of course everyone using 5 out.

I question myself, for the love of god, what is the purpose of these people following only one or two aspects of the game and doing literally the SAME all over again?

It's not that I'm losing but it is so annoying and boring to play all the time against basically the same guy. I mean it's such a rare occasion getting an opponent who realizes you wanna play sim and so he actually does the same.

Well I don't know, I end up most of the time using their own cheese to punish them, because that's what they deserve, but honestly I'm losing motivation getting towards Duncan because of the mass of these toxic tactics.

If you think it'll change in higher leagues I can tell you it definitely doesn't and you'd be amazed what kind of players achieved Diamond/PD tier.

The problem is can't play vs computer on Domination i think it is too boring.
But playing MTO is so frustrating:
    - cheese
    - equalizer
    - disconnection

Not to take us too far off track but NBA Live having a decent game won't change the players. 2k does enough things right where players can play sim or something close to sim if they want to. But the players would prefer video game tactics and 2k lets you do those too. Having a good NBA Jam re-launch might do more in drawing the turbo crowd away from 2k than a good NBA Live game.

These two strategies are pretty effective and can easily get you to PD Duncan if you perfect it. For me, the fun is trying to implement a defense that can stop them. I've played games where both my and my opponent's offenses were generic, repetitive cuts and screens but the defense was a chess match on both sides.

I don't treat my opponents the same even if they have similar strategies. If I see someone using 5 out or manual cuts, it doesn't mean they have nothing else up their sleeve. It's my job to stop their action first and then maybe I'll see something new. I've had games where I faced 5-out first quarter, cuts and high PnR 2nd quarter, ISO/post 3rd, and then plays fourth.

Yeah this mode has been broken for years. Every year it's the same thing and this year they added prestige for Duncan, but what they fail to realize is even if we get Duncan....then what? Like that MyCareer cut scene with Justice. Then what?

I agree with all of this. And after just being demoted from Diamond League, I can certainly tell anyone that the cheese just gets worse. Like at the top of PD league, there is this ultimate competitor that has perfected every form of cheese the game offers. I really cant see players like myself typicalot dominating. I play a paced game. Not taping my R2 button down for 20mins straight

I really wish there was a way to lump these morons all into one pool, so they can turbo and pause back and forth for the entire game with each other.

              One observation I have made....
The lower rated the opponent's team is, the more difficult a win will be. People with stacked squads just think they will make every shot. And they also tend to carry the arrogance that cause them to pause after every score, steal, miss in my end, etc.
Ppl on a budget know that cheese wins, and most of them are "skilled" at it.

If in not in desperate need of a win, I ask them if this isball they do. If they reply yes, I disconnect. Matches like that aren't worth the aggravation to me. Even if I feel confident in winning. I didn t buy the game to get homicidally frustrated. Lmao.

I didn't want to say the "E" word but in my opinion it also has a huge impact whether your able to stop cheese or not. I've been tracking my games and it's always noticeable that the 4th quarter against low difficulty opponents is kinda scripted. contested shots/layups go in all the time ...lose balls/rebounds always end up in the opponent hands...and so on. Sometimes there are situations where you just can not deny it's real. Especially if you track your games, have an eye on low tier opponents and observe the 4th quarter in comparison to the rest.

2K could fix a lot of the terrible AI defense if they really wanted to. I think they believe they would be removing a large part of their consumers that buy VC if they did so. My team could be really fun with some adjustments but it is more frustrating than anything right now.

As a defensive player, I can say that I'm still enjoying MTO.

I have fun playing defense and shutting down offenses. Defense this year is nowhere as good or easy as 2k16....but this gives me an extra challenge.

Its super satisfying shutting down 5 out ISO ball or PnR one trick ponies. I force at least 10 turnovers per game and aim to hold my opponents below 45 pts as an extra challenge.

So even tho there is a lot of cheese in MTO, I still have fun because I like the challenge of trying to shut it down.

Great points, I always wondered what has worked the most for others? I tend to do go over or under (depends on mathcup) then no hedge, normally I on ball the ball handler and then off ball the pick to prevent inside passes then off ball corners so nobody comes down to help for no reason, It's a lot of switching back and fourth but I wondered has anybody else tried anything else that works more effectively?

2k14 was pretty good. You could play HOF 6 minute quarters on MyCareer and get like 4k VC and buy a pack in MyTeam. The only problem was the zig zag cheese, but it was fun outside of that. I enjoyed restrictions on MTO and how domination required bronze and 1 silver teams. It made the mode much more diverse and unique and not just about getting the best cards from day 1.

                            Re: Do you enjoy MTO?

I personally gave up on setting up the settings and just leave them on auto. I leave Ace on and adjust with the on the fly menus. It has made it easier to adapt. Might use 23 zone for a couple of possessions and switch back to man right when I think they realize I am in zone. It will be problematic to these cheeser abusers.

The computer can play good defense if you move your defense offball into the right areas. If you see a shooter with too much space switch to offball and move the appropriate defender while watching to see how your opponent react. Then you can go back to on ball or not.

If some want to just spam isolation dribble moves in will sit back and watch off ball. Then go on ball and back up to get them to shoot. Most of the time they will miss because a recent update does drop effectiveness of shots after too much dribbling.

I think we try to force the game into how we want to play. Sometimes I try to score with one player since he should be open only to put up a bad shot instead of reacting to the situation and waiting for the open man. Try to play creatively and different ways and there is no reason anyone should be bored. That is just whining. People are really good at whining.....

Yes - you can have fun with your own creative offense - we know it, although that's not the point.

The meta shifted from 4-1 small ball offense to 5 Out athletic cutters/3PT this year.

It's not the problem dealing with them, but it's annoying to face the same kind of strategy all over again.

If you're having fun stopping it thats okey, but I might start playing more League with people interested in SIM than grinding through the cheese just to get Duncan.
