FYI, using lower OVR players for Challenges is not so much about the cost of the player card, but the cost of contracts.

I imagine I'm like a lot of people, in that I try to do Challenges with a mostly Emerald/Sapphire squad. Maybe Rubies. But not above that, since, above Rubies, contract costs double when going to Diamond, and triple with Amethysts.

I totally get that, and I do the same thing. I have diamond contracts on Magic and Ben, and I used Dikembe for this one because I knew I needed to play lockdown D. It would cost me more MT for contracts if I didn't complete it the first time, so I bit the bullet and used Dikembe.
