Wide open Harden and Klay shots not going down as his Curry goes 5-6 from deep and Ruby AD outmuscles Diamond David Robinson for rebounds over and over. All of his contested layups go in and mine roll limply off the rim as all my players stare at the ball instead of even trying to grab it.

I'm getting fed up. I put in too much time grinding in the auction house for the quality of my players to not matter. I'm not saying I should win every game where my team is superior. I'm saying it shouldn't be so obvious from the first quarter that I'm gonna get screwed for the entirety of the game.

Seriously I have done exactly what you are saying and feeling. I got demoted multiple times my first time around trying to get past Ruby. I had an all Diamond squad. The adjustment is harsh. Now I can go nearly undefeated in each league if it weren't for occasional lag, bad play by me, or disconnect losses. I don't ever have issues with demotion now.

Don't believe in the equalizer stuff. It will not help you win but will just make you more frustrated and play worse. Crap happens and the sooner you just accept it, the sooner you will win. Slow down, call a time out when it starts going bad for you. Wait the length of the timeout to calm down.

Only take open shots! Pass the ball around in your freelance offense until you get truly an open shot. Shooting is much harder so off the dribble slightly contested shots don't go in unless you nail the release. Use Pick n Roll and if it isn't there don't throw the pass but pull it back out and do it again. Slow down and stay calm.

Keep your eyes open and look for whoever is open. Someone is open somewhere. Don't run 5 out. It is a terrible offense. Try different ones until you find one that works well. Hope this helps you out. It is terribly frustrating and I wanted to quit many times. Stick with it and you will get better.

Re: Ruby League Advice

^^ That's excellent advice. Nickstank, if you start thinking about how obvious the equalizer is in the first quarter, you've already lost the mental battle.

Fact of the matter is, there is nothing in the first quarter that could prove an equalizer. The sample of shots and gameplay is sooooooo small in a 5 minute quarter that anything can be chalked up to random variance of the RNG. Seriously. Curry just went 0-11 on 3's in a game a week ago, if that happened in 2K folks would scream about how the game was rigged from tipoff.

Re: Ruby League Advice

I feel you pain) Yes Ruby league is so different from emerald.
Several times I was demoted from it. But, now Im playing in it well. Most often I pass it with 7-2, 7-3 wins. But until I make 7-0 Im not going anywhere. I collect diamond shoes.

Yes I have god squad, but Im a noob and this is my first NBA game, so Im still learning.

If you have good team for 5 out - play it, this one of the best offence. I mix it with Prinston chin (great offence) and Heat 2014 so my opponent will not be able to adjust to my playstyle. It helps alot.

For defence Im offballer (noobish I know), so I prefer my players to be A graded defence. Very often I make changes to close some great opponent players like Harden (diamond Kidd or M.R Richardson holds him very well)

Re: Ruby League Advice

This one is the most important. Make changes and adapt. Yesterday a player called me a cheeser because I scored 30 points with t-Mac (Rockets one). I put T-Mac at point guard in the loading screen because he had Nate Robinson at Point. His SG was Amy Harden. He didn't change the matchup, so is spaced the floor and destroyed him in the post. So search for mismatches in your favor and adapt to mismatches against you. Another advice is to batch up your players accordingly. If you run a 4-1 offense make sure your PG has a diner badge and 3 players have catch and shoot and corner specialist. Your center should have Brick Wall. Shooting gets much more difficult in Ruby league and above. Now I'm in Amy league, tryin to go 8-0. I finished Amy league a couple of times with 8-1. The only Amy I maybe want is Marion beside Steve Francis, who I have already.

Re: Ruby League Advice

Thank you all for the advice. It's good to know I'm not the only one who has had major struggles in the Ruby League! I'm going to take some of the tips you offered and apply them. I'm going to slow the game down and run my offense when I encounter nonsense, and use more timeouts to make adjustments and cool down if I need to.

I know the equalizer is a hotly debated topic, but my experiences continue to point me towards it being real. I just need to get better at the game to be able to overcome it more consistently and not let it get in my head. A lot of you have made it through at least one prestige, so I know the nonsense can be overcome!

Re: Ruby League Advice

One of my bigger issues with Ruby is that a few times I've been matched up with people who are going through the ladder again, and have PD Isiah, Duncan, and like 10 other Diamonds on the roster. These guys are usually pretty good as well, so its an automatic L.

I hate 2Ks matchmaking. Don't make a system where you need wins to advance and then match you up with someone you have almost no hope of beating.

I would say don't give up even if the team looks stacked. True that most players with Duncan are pretty good especially with a balanced team but these players already reached their goal and may play less competitively.

Personally, I'm in the same position and I just want to play good games. If my opponent plays annoyingly, I will try to destroy them but generally I don't care if I win or lose if it's fun.

Of if anything it gives me even more incentive. But the quality of their teams means they don't even have to play well to win. They can just turbo towards the basket to finish under contact or shoot contested 3s. Sure against an equally matched opponent that wouldn't work. But against my team of mostly ruby players it does.
