All of the 1 vs. 1 online modes (MyTeam, Play Now Online, Blacktop) are more frustrating than fun in 2K17 because of the absurd breakdowns in defensive AI that happen on every single possession.

You'll be much better off playing the modes that don't have any AI players on the court (Pro Am, Park) if you want to have any fun with 2K17. I gave up playing the 1 vs. 1 online modes in November and have enjoyed the game much more because of that decision.

Even with all the defensive settings that are available in the pause menu, there's just no fixing the way that the game is fundamentally programmed this year on defense.

No and it's not even close. This year game is less cheesier than past games. It has a lot of gameplay issues but most that isn't cheese. User behavior like steal spams & turbo mashing is annoying to play against but it isn't cheese. Zig zagging was epidemic in 2k14. There isn't anything that comes close to that in this years game.

MTO games is rarely fun and frustrating at times but it isn't as bad as it was last year.

2k15 was the worst cheese I've ever seen in my life. Zig Zag & shoot a 3 was all you had to do. Glad they made off the dribble 3's harder since then. Combine it with Pharell's awful soundtrack and you've got yourself the worst 2k game of the decade.

2k16 was probably the best in terms of least amount of cheese, but 2k17 is a close 2nd.

So the last 2 years of 2k haven't been unbearable, but 2k15 still haunts me in my nightmares.

God I hated that game. Still have nightmares about that piece of trash.

Just a word on "deny all and offball" as I read this pretty often here: IMO this is easy to beat. Just send manual cuts or hold the pass button for a handoff. You need a decent cutter (acceleration, speed, strenght, reaction) but it works every time with any Kobe, Ray, Grandma, Iggy, Klay, Jimmy just to name a few.
Also, you can send your Center to Cut if you have a decent one. Usually the user is too slow to react. Especially with Yao's slow ***.

I stopped playing MTO because of the steal spam. When I did that, I stopped seeing a reason to spend money on VC. Sadly, most people seem to want to steal spam and 5 Out, so it won't send a message.
