I know raw stats are the first thing we all want to focus on any time a new card is released or we're looking to upgrade, but don't sleep on how important a number of tendencies are as well.
Given they govern "how" a player plays (not just "how well" he plays) they can have a massive effect in making players better or worse than their ratings, especially as they govern how their AI reacts.
For example, I love diamond Alonzo Mourning and have used him all year and he has insane defensive stats, HOWEVER he has a NINETY "hard foul" tendency that makes him basically obliterate guys in the key when they drive and costs a ton of free throws that can swing a game.
I recently added diamond Wilt to use as his backup, who has 15 hard foul and foul tendencies, and the different is really noticeable as he plays a lot more "straight up" D instead of wildly flailing for blocks all the time.
From my experience, the most important tendencies to look at are:
- Foul
- Hard Foul
- Standing Dunk
- Pass Interception
- Crash
- Contest Shot
- Driving Dunk
Do you take time to look at tendencies before buying a player? If not, I strongly suggest you do
