As I've said before...
I completely disagree.
This makes the assumption that this is the ONLY thing people want in these modes. Given the number of complaints we see EVERY year on this forum and others...we KNOW that's not true.
MyTeam and modes like it are the ultimate SANDBOX mode for gamers.
Thinking that the ONLY way to profit from these modes is with ridiculously overpowered content/players and gameplay that feels like NBA Jam is a huge MISTAKE.
That thinking leaves an entire segment of gamers out of these modes. A segment of gamers that generally tends to be older...a segment that also has more disposable income...and less TIME - which means more of an incentive to BUY VC/MT instead of spend hours grinding for it or sniping for it.
Forcing MyTeam to be an ARCADE mode is a mistake...especially financially.
If 2K put a separate SuperMax option in MyTeam right now with a restrictive salary cap (or maybe several with multiple tiers)....they'd see an instant surge in the number of gamers actively playing MyTeam.
That's a fact.
Just look on this forum...well....maybe that's not the best idea these days as it's practically DEAD because SIM gamers have LEFT MyTeam.
You can find the same theme on other forums...2KMT Central's forum has many posts and comments about this.
Gamers who lean to the SIM side of gaming do NOT want to play SuperMax...
The main reason for this is that they don't WANT to play with overpowered teams with 13 Diamond and Amy players on the roster.
The quick answer is to NOT do that...
Here's the PROBLEM with that...All it does is put those gamers at a DISADVANTAGE because they are FORCED to play teams STACKED with those types of rosters.
So...they simply walk away from MyTeam!
Why even bother to play when you're almost certain to be matched against a roster built for CHEESE and NBA Jam-style gameplay?!?!
So...please tell me how it isn't in 2K's own BEST interest to give those type of gamers a place to play multiplayer online games?!?!!?!
It would mean more active gamers in MyTeam...which would mean more of an opportunity to sell VC. On top of that, it would help stabilize the marketplace AND add a tremendous amount of depth and strategy to the game.
It's not that complicated and very easy to do on 2K's end....they're already doing it to some extent.
What exactly is the issue again?
