NBA2K17 Ratings/Tendency Explanation

I know I'm pretty late to this discussion, but figured I'd ask something ive been wondering a bout for a while now. I having really gone too deep into roster editing or anything like that, however as a freqjuent 2k player I always wonder do tendencies only affect how often players do certain things or does it also increase thier sucess rate. For example if a have a player with low dunk ratings but tendency to dunk is set at 99 will he not only attempt more dunks but complete them as well? Or same senario for 3 point shots does decent rating and high tendency lead to higher chance of making those shots? Thanks for any information provided.
