In 2K16, there was that method where you traded the player with himself to duplicate him. 2K most likely intentionally removed this 'feature' (more like bug/glitch) in 2K17.

Anybody else have workarounds? Would make certain things easier (making past versions of existing players).

The 2K16 bug was NOT a duplication or copy, it was a reference. In other words, if you created the second "copy" of a player using the bug, then traded it to another team, it would still be treated as though it was still on the original team. Also, any edits made to either "copy" would be seen on both. So if you changed the name or height for instance on either copy, you would see that change on both. Given this information, it didn't really make it much of a useful exploit, unless you wanted to do something like create an all-star team or olympic team made of players from some other teams in the same roster.

As to your question, for CAP's you can copy more than one instance from your created player pool to a single roster and edit them both separately. For regular players, I'm pretty sure you're out of luck.
