It's been a while since I've been able to game and with the minimal improvements I've seen in 2K18, I have personally decided to stick it out with 2K17 for the time being. With that being said, I have had to make a couple of updates to rosters and the MyLeague setup to reflect that so I wanted to share my process for those in the same boat as I am.
1) Download My 17-18 Season Roster
This can be found by searching my PSN Name "Kruise_Kontrol" and downloading my roster that is currently named "Roster Base17-18". Currently this is a basic update, featuring correct rosters, contracts, years pro, etc. Featured on this roster are also the major injuries which are hampering players at the start of the season a la Gordon Hayward and Isaiah Thomas (These can obviously be ignored by not using roster injuries). My hope is to use this roster as a base, and eventually update ratings for players improving in 2K18 (Giannis, Giannis, and more Giannis) as well as try and have players in correct positions to where the computer accurately uses the outdated 5 position rotation.
2) Setup Your MyLeague File
This is a process that will take the most time, but will hopefully be a one time ordeal. For those extremely new to using custom rosters, I am going to detail the whole process. First, you must select MyLeague and then hit triangle before continuing with a standard league. Here you search for my roster and download it. Continue through and go into Setup Options. Inside, turn "Previously Traded Draft Picks" to Off and "Use Roster Injuries" to On. The rest of the settings will be your personal preference. Continue and select all 30 teams to start. When downloading a draft class, personally I am using SkillazKill's 2018 Rookies class which can be found by searching his PSN name "SkillazKill"
3) Create 2K18 Atmosphere
Cycle through all 30 teams and search their team name in the Download Team Design section of the Team Relocation menu option. Here you will have to sort through and find the new standard Nike jerseys for each team. They are usually on the first page for almost every team so this shouldn't take long.
4) Recreate Future Draft Pick Swaps
Congratulations, you have now made it to the most tedious part. With everyone having their original draft picks, and us technically being fast forwarded a year, the draft pick ownership needs to be adjusted. This unfortunately has to be done manually, however I will detail the easiest trades to make this happen below in a comment to this thread to not further clutter this post. Reminder that the years will be one year off on draft picks since we skipped a year. Trades must be done in order of comments.
5) Save File for Future Use
After the tedious draft swapping, you are finally ready to get started. But first, I recommend that you use the save as feature under the Save menu option. Scroll down and save this as a new franchise, then proceed to exit. Go to the MyLeague load screen and scroll to find one of your two edited files, and rename this something to the likes of "2K18 Start" with the Options button. Now the most important thing is when starting a new season with a team, is to use that save as feature again so you don't overwrite your base file. After this, you are almost ready to begin. Go to the Options menu option, then click on MyLeague Automation. Deselect the 29 teams you do not wish to be, and you are set to continue.
I hope this helps guys for the few of us who are sticking with 2K17. I am currently finishing the details of the draft pick swaps that I will comment down after. Let me know if you all have any questions or feedback. Cheers!
