Wow folks......Visual Concepts has delivered what is quite possibly the greatest console sports game of all time. I am deadly serious. I don’t usually hand out a hot take like that.....but this game is simply dazzling in every way. Presentation, signature styles, Era specific game rules and tuning, the depth of My League, the roster community it just is all coming together to give us the most complete package for a sports game I have ever seen and played.
So of course I am going to share with the community my style of 2K. And what is that?
"Average Joe" Pro Sliders using Real FG%/FT%
So is this set for you? Answer these questions:
What is a “Average Joe" and will this set appeal to you?
1) Are you a long time sports gamer who grew up on Tecmo Super Basketball, Celtics vs Lakers, NBA Live 1995, NBA Live 2005, NBA 2K11? And you simply do not have the insane stick skills to use the shot meter, and chain together move after move? Do you play pure team basketball, want player ratings to be the absolute end all in the dice roll result in how the teams perform? Are you simply not a cheeser?
2) Do you like to run plays 80-90% of the time with some free style mixed in on breaks, loose balls and some run n gun?
3) Do you like to use full play art but other than that have a totally clean screen and play from the broadcast camera view?
4) Do you want ACE to determine everything for you so you can focus on just playing ball and allowing your coaches gameplan and the vastly improved AI to handle defensive match-ups, rebounding aggressiveness, double teams, hedges, pick and roll strategy etc etc, while you simply run the floor and work the ball?
5) Are you not totally OCD about stats that you will get slideritis? Will you enjoy the game as long as it plays smooth and true to life? Are you a hardcore MyLeague player that will let the universe take it's own course and not get bogged down in setting every little thing up for all 32 teams? (if you do that's ok but time spent playing is better use of time IMO) The only thing I do take control over is lopsided trades (what I deem just pure fleecing between the CPU teams) if needed. It is rare but every now and then I will not allow a trade if it is not in the best interest of either team or the league long term.
6) These sliders are not tested nor designed for use with THE SHOT STICK. Period. If you use the shot stick I can't answer any questions regarding using these with the shot stick. If you want to try it...by all means. I don't use it nor will test with it.
7) These sliders are designed an tested using only the Broadcast Camera/Side View Camera. I already have set up with a Side view Cam I love from some suggestions I had read when the game first came out. It will be posted once Version 1 of the slider set are ready to go.
8) These sliders were tested exclusively on the PS5 Console inside My Era Mode in the Bird/Magic, Jordan and Kobe Era only. I have no plans to play the modern NBA Era......at all. Sorry. I am 100% all in my reshaping the history of the 80’s/90’s and 00’s which is he golden age of The Association. I do not care at all for the modern game. IF you are a classic roster classic NBA “Average Joe” you are in for something special.

This cycle I am focused on playing the game and not getting bogged down with MyGM RPG aspects of the game. If you like that....by all means. I won’t have settings for the RPG aspect as they will be shut off. I will only control my selected team this cycle as well. Whatever happens.....happens.
What I am going to do is be a coach and GM in terms of playing my games, trades, scouting, hiring of my staff, player training, team training etc. So I will share all my progression/regression and training settings which I am testing as well. I want the Era specific rules to be in effect and have the ability to approve or disapprove of expansion, rules changes etc along the way.
I am patiently waiting for MJ Wizards and Clutch to work their roster magic and use their rosters for My Era Mode. MJ is hitting the Bird/Magic Era first and Clutch is hitting the Jordan Era first. Which is awesome. My plans are to run a Lakers Bird/Magic Era franchise and a Miami Heat Jordan Era. Then down the road we will take on the Heat again in the Kobe Era. Clutch is also filling in the historic draft classes for the Jordan Era. I am sure you will be able to find high quality Bird/Magic Era draft edited historic classes and I think Clutch is also going to so the Kobe Era classes.
This game is going to own my soul for years and years to come.....just like Madden 16 and MLB The Show 20. That is my Holy Triumphant of console sports games. 2K23 has knocked 2K11 off that crown!
I am also loving the Jordan Challenge this year....just amazing fun.
I ask for some real serious patience as I am playing dozens of test games in all three era’s as I test the tweaks we have been working on. The beautiful thing is this game is so well tuned out of the box.....but as I kept playing I wanted to work on some areas like:

Injuries have so far been outstanding on default!!! In game injuries are back!! Also CPU teams are calling lot’s of timeouts!! Sub rotations look good.....2K did an amazing job tuning this game for launch. Just awesome.

MyLeague Setup Front End Menu Setup
After choosing what Era you want to play in you will be brought to the Association Setup Front End Menu. Here is where you can customize your franchise to your hearts content. I am going to control every team. However I am automating everything for every team except my own. The reason I am going to do Every team Control is because maybe...in year 4 year 5....I want to change teams. This allows you that option. I am going to explain how to set up your Association/MyLeague the way I do. You can always do whatever you want. It’s your game. This is merely a guide and base. I do tweak some sliders in Progression and injuries as you will see. So let’s get to it.

I leave them alone as the rules for the Magic/Bird, Jordan Era as well as Kobe Era are "Era Specific” You will have the opportunity to Vote or overturn on the league rule changes every season. You will also be able to overturn expansion and relocation. It is all up to you.
Role Playing Elements

I do not like nor play the legacy My GM Mode. Not my thing. If you want all those RPG elements as a GM and Owner by all means. Toggle them on. Also I do not suggest Draft Storylines for all the historic and custom draft classes. Why? Well it is up to you in the end.....but theoretically if you toggle them on Michael Jordan for example can have a major career ending storyline....or Hakeem or Lebron or Wade etc etc etc you get my drift. I am more interested in seeing the what if without that random dice roll element. However if your feeling saucy and want to gamble....turn on the Draft Storylines for both Generated and Historic classes. Just remember....any player CAP created to fill in the missing players (Barkley, Miller etc) are also subject to these storylines even if you only toggle generated. So do this at your own risk.
The only thing I toggle on here is Moral and Chemistry

Just remember to toggle over to the team you want to control and turn everything off you want to control for your team and any other team for that matter. The Settings are set to every team “on” for automation. Simply download these settings on the front end My League menu and then adjust your team accordingly.
Now go ahead and advance to your franchise:
It will ask you what draft class you want to use.....once you find a good 1984 custom draft class....go ahead and download it....or simply use 2K’s 1984 draft class and edit missing players yourself if you so desire. The same will apply for the 1992 Draft Class.
Now in your franchise menu go to Options and:
Tuning Sliders>CPU/User>Load Settings> Load in my sliders
Then set up your teams automation settings how you like (turn off automation for trades, scouting, lineups etc for your desired team/teams)
