User Timing vs Real %

Both of these are similar and in all honesty can be considered "Sim". They both take into account a player's ratings, shot situations such as who is guarding you, and how open you are. The only two differences are that with user timing, you need to know your player's release, and that a perfect release will go in 99% of the time. So even if someone is guarding you perfectly, getting a perfect release can null that defenders efforts.

Keep in mind that both ways require skill in slightly different ways. If you want releases to matter slightly more than situation, go with user timing. If you want situation to be the most important factor, go with real %. At the end of the day, ratings will factor into both.

I will say this though, I do believe that Free-throws should be user timing at the very least. You could even increase the difficulty of Free-throws. If a player is skilled enough to master a players foul shot of all things, no way is that cheese. Especially if you bump up Free-throw difficulty.

In short, Real % and User Timing are the same minus the perfect release green ability where the shot automatically goes in.

Re: User Timing vs Real %

Quote: "The biggest factor is taking good shots. No matter what option you choose, good shots go in. What a good shot is - is debatable. Players often equate open shots as good shots and they aren't always good shots even though they can be.

But of the two options, user timing requires more skill and knowledge of your team. With user timing you have to not only take a good shot for that player, you also have to shoot right with him. So to me the difference between the two options is that one requires knowing shot releases and one does not."
