Continuing from the closed thread (which I'm assuming was closed in order to consolidate discussion here):

I’ve never understood why people get all crazy about covers. AI was on the cover for 4 straight years at the start of 2k. Love is popular with a lot of people makes sense that number 24 would be the legend cover for 2k24. He also had a great relationship with 2k.

Personally I don't really care since I'm on PC using mods, but recently they've been seeming to put in a little more effort on cover athlete likenesses / animations. They did improve Kobe for 2K21, right? I think they touched up Dirk for 2K22 as well, and they definitely improved Jordan for 2K23. It's a minor thing, but for retro players on console it's good for 2K to have a reason to improve the retro likenesses, and the more the merrier.

Pretty cool. We may possibly get a Kobe challenge? Score 81 points challenge would defiantly be one of them. Defiantly would like to see the 2006 Lakers, 2009 Lakers and 2010 Lakers added to the classic teams.

Maybe this year they'll make the jump to next-gen for PC ... if Madden can do it, 2K sure as hell should be able to.

It made too much sense. It only really matters to me though if we get some kind of Kobe Challenge mode. 2K killed it with the Jordan Challange. I lived Kobes big moments and it's from my favorite NBA Era. Let's get it!

She was balling at her age and loved the game just like her dad


Btw one of those Kobe challenges I hope they have Kobe saving LeBron and D-Wade in the Olympics

Yeah I agree I want more then just him on the cover. The fact we’ve never gotten the 2010 team is absurd lol. A Kobe mode for me would be a dream. I think the Kobe models look good now, I think animations could be a little improved.

Will this finally be the year we get a Kobe/Pau classic team after years of asking? I know Ronnie 2k asked years ago if anyone could contact Andrew Bynum and nothing came of it. A 2008-09 Era start date would probably be a safe assumption as well.

I grew up in LA, still live here. We love Koby. But man oh man. This is like the 7th time we are getting a “mamba edition” of this game. They even brought back the jordan edition last year after a decade long absence. They are over using the Kobe thing. They should be highlighting new stars. Or maybe even do a call back to the early 2k games and do a “the answer” version featuring Allen iverson. I say this as a laker fan and LA resident. The Kobe thing is being overdone with this series, and AI was probably more influential during that time than Kobe
