Re: NBA 2K24 - Fifth Official Rating Update - 1.25.2024

The biggest upgrade in my opinion are the Memphis Grizzles

        Memphis Grizzlies

        - Luke Kennard - 77 OVR (+2)

        - Vince Williams Jr - 76 OVR (+2)

        - Ziaire Williams - 74 OVR (+1)

        - David Roddy - 74 OVR (+1)

        - GG Jackson II - 72 OVR (+2)

Before the above they are probably the worst rated team in the game. But like I've repeated over and over they better than what they are currently rated at. In my humble opinion, No NBA team should drop lower than a 82 in any rating. I'm talking about Team ratings here. We are talking about Professional players. The Grizzlies were rated 75 or 77. That why I think no NBA player on a roster should drop below a 75-77.

Re: NBA 2K24 - Fifth Official Rating Update - 1.25.2024

Is updating picks a complex process or something? They haven't moved any of the picks from the OG/Siakam/Rozier trades to the correct teams, and it took them until December to update the picks from the Lillard/Jrue trades.

Not a player ratings issue of course but I would have thought it was an important part of updating rosters? I feel like this always used to be done promptly in the past.

Skip around to your favorite team or take a two hour tour around the NBA (roughly 4 mins per team).

Probably a labor issue. There's a lot of Eras content / fixes that are also backlogged.

Re: NBA 2K24 - Fifth Official Rating Update - 1.25.2024

              LeBron since the last update:

22.4 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 6.6 APG, many poor defensive moments. Team hovering around 10th seed.

But I must be crazy for questioning the validity of a comical “96” rating.

Without re-litigating the last 3 years of circular arguments (because you can't/won't be reasoned with):

LeBron James this cycle (a whopping 4 games):
                26 PPG, 8 RPG, 6 APG (34 MPG)
                51 FG%, 41 3PT%, 83 FT%

If you want to add on his game on 1/11 vs PHX where he scored a season-low 10 points (3-11 FG) in only 24 minutes (which he was questionable to play AND left early due to injury), that still isn't changing his season-long production all that much (which is BETTER than last season in a few meaningful ways).

Why wouldn’t we include the suns game?

Players often and regularly play hurt and also have ratings affected by being hurt.

But even without that game, 26/8/6 is not close to worthy of a 96 especially if that person is often a defensive liability, not running back to get on defense, etc., the leader of a team fighting with the star-less rockets and jazz for 10th seed, etc.

Has there been ANYONE in NBA 2K history averaging 24.8/7/7 (and at 10th seed despite a stacked supporting cast) with a 96 rating? That’s a serious question. Has that ever happened before, or just treatment befitting of a King.

Surely controlling an influential agency that can leverage a narrative can’t have anything to do with it.

I mean Embiid is averaging 36/11/6 with a 29-14 record.

Lebron is only 2 OVR points lower with 24/7/7? 22-23 record? Make it make sense.

Stephen Curry until a month ago. The same point was made two weeks ago. You have mum to say about Curry's 99 3pt rating - there's a reason you talk about the same player in Every. Single. Topic.

(and at 10th seed despite a stacked supporting cast)
Ah yes, the stacked team starting Taurean Prince (31 MPG!!!) and Cam Reddish. You tried the same **** two weeks ago. Please get new material.

That's all on LeBron until you come up with something new.

Kawhi´s stamina rating is too low with 87 (please don´t hit if I´m wrong Rashidi)

OG Anunoby FT rating still too low (68 wtf?, shooting 80% for the season, 93% with the Knicks )

Nic Claxton FT a bit too high (63, shooting 57 for the season)

                      Sexton´s 3pt could use a bump (81, shooting 38%), midrange a decrease (83; 42%)

PS: Watched 2 Nuggets game the last week and I got a better understanding of Peyton Watson´s block rating now

Lots of players have bad Stamina ratings. IIRC this got lowered last year in the first month when Kawhi was struggling in his return from the Torn ACL.

Naturally, he played 34-38 MPG over the last 4 months of the year.

OG Anunoby FT rating still too low (68 wtf?, shooting 80% for the season, 93% with the Knicks )
Nic Claxton FT a bit too high (63, shooting 57 for the season)
You would think FT would be easy enough to track but it seems beyond their scope. In 2K23 there were a ton of bad/random FT ratings at default.

OG started off extremely slow, he was at 59% over his first 15 games. A career 75% shooter who shot 84% last year never should have been taken that low (ESPECIALLY if they aren't going to track this monthly). Stauffer still doesn't understand appropriate sample sizes after 10 years. OG shouldn't have gone any lower than his career rate.

                        Sexton´s 3pt could use a bump (81, shooting 38%), midrange a decrease (83; 42%)
Technically his Mid is fine if you're using 42% (it's basically just double FG%).
I don't count 10-15 foot shots as Mid so it changes the math a bit.

                        Collin Sexton (2024 Shooting)
                        Layup: 120-203 FG (59 FG%, 54 AST%, 6.6 FGA/36)
                        Dunk: 15-16 FG, (94 FG%, 67 AST%, 0.5 FGA/36)
                        Close: 93-225 FG (41 FG%, 35 AST%, 7.3 FGA/36)
                        Mid: 13-25 FG (52 FG%, 39 AST%, 0.8 FGA/36) - Career 39 FG%
                        3pt: 68-179 FG (38 3PT%, 87 AST%, 5.8 FGA/36)

                        I would have:
                        90 Layup / 65 Dunk
                        86 Close / 80 Mid / 84 3pt

2K's 3pt ratings are usually like 2-3 pts lower than mine, I'm using an older scale, they changed it maybe 5 years ago.

Sexton FWIW has a 64 TS% (29 USG) since becoming a starter last month. He 3pt volume/creation is average, it's his slashing where he does most of his damage. To give a better sense of what 6.6 Layup/36 means (and why FG% doesn't tell the full story):

                        JAZZ LAYUP
                        Collin Sexton: 120-203 FG (59 FG%, 54 AST%, 6.6 FGA/36)
                        Talen-Horton-Tucker: 60-118 FG (51 FG%, 30 AST%, 6.4 FGA/36)
                        Jordan Clarkson: 61-122 FG (50 FG%, 38 AST%, 4.1 FGA/36)
                        Simone Fontecchio: 38-68 FG (56 FG%, 68 AST%, 2.4 FGA/36)
                        Ochai Agbaji: 35-61 FG (57 FG%, 77 AST%, 2.4 FGA/36)
                        Kris Dunn: 16-37 FG (43 FG%, 38 AST%, 2.0 FGA/36)
                        Keyonte George: 24-61 FG (39 FG%, 54 AST%, 1.4 FGA/36)

He is by far their best perimeter finisher + getting to the line

PS: Watched 2 Nuggets game the last week and I got a better understanding of Peyton Watson´s block rating now
Watson has 9 blocks in his last 4 games (73 minutes)

                          - Luke Kennard - 77 OVR (+2)

                          - Vince Williams Jr - 76 OVR (+2)

                          - GG Jackson II - 72 OVR (+2)

Before the above they are probably the worst rated team in the game. But like I've repeated over and over they better than what they are currently rated at. In my humble opinion, No NBA team should drop lower than a 82 in any rating. I'm talking about Team ratings here. We are talking about Professional players. The Grizzlies were rated 75 or 77. That why I think no NBA player on a roster should drop below a 75-77.

Not to mention they are above 500 since Ja went down and have won 3 in a row without a starter except JJJ.
How would you rate the guys on the team?
                          JJJ taking a leap offensively.
Vince looks for real and like a Herb Jones clone with possibly a better shot.
GG and Ziaire can score but just so inconsistent .

They should give LeBron a little boost after that masterpiece. Unreal.

Without looking up Stats or ratings, but Kobe instantly comes to my mind.
