Re: 1st Official NBA 2K25 Player Ratings Update - 11.7.24

        BADGE CHANGES - In progress
15 (NC) Tyrese Haliburton (IND) - Some downgrades
        11 (+5) Christian Braun (DEN)
        9 (+3) Norman Powell (LAC)
        8 (+4) Gradey Dick (TOR)

BIG MOVERS (3 or more) - Rookies are in Bold
87 (-3) Tyrese Haliburton (IND) - The only Mover who went down
87 (+3) Jarrett Allen (CLE) - BTW he is +3 in this update rather than +2
        86 (+4) Darius Garland (CLE)
        84 (+5) Buddy Hield (GSW)
        84 (+5) Norman Powell LAC)
        84 (+4) Jalen Johnson (ATL)
        84 (+3) RJ Barrett (TOR)
        84 (+3) Cam Thomas (BKN)
        84 (+5) Jordan Poole (WAS)
        83 (+5) Dennis Schroder (BKN)
        82 (+6) Gradey Dick (TOR)
        81 (+4) Bilal Coulibaly (WAS)
        81 (+3) Andrew Wiggins (GSW)
        80 (+4) Christian Braun (DEN)
        79 (+5) Dyson Daniels (ATL)
        79 (+3) Tre Mann (CHA)
        77 (+4) Jordan Hawkins (NOP)
        76 (+4) Davion Mitchell (TOR)
        76 (+3) Ochai Agbaji (TOR)
        76 (+3) Julian Strawther (DEN)
        75 (+7) Jaylen Wells (MEM)
        75 (+5) Ryan Dunn (PHX)
        75 (+3) Zach Edey (MEM)
        75 (+3) Ty Jerome (CLE)
        75 (+3) Dean Wade (CLE)
        74 (+7) Jay Huff (MEM)
        74 (+4) Bub Carrington (WAS)
        74 (+3) Ben Sheppard (IND)
        74 (+3) Neemias Queta (BOS)
        74 (+3) Jalen Wilson (BKN)
        73 (+4) Jonathan Mogbo (TOR)
        73 (+3) Yves Missi (NOP)
        73 (+3) Kyshawn George (WAS)
        73 (+3) Jared McCain (PHI)
73 (+3) Tristan Da Silva (ORL)
73 (+3) Brandon Boston Jr (NOP)
        72 (+4) Pelle Larsson (MIA)
        71 (+4) Keaton Wallace (ATL)

One could argue that 2K is going after it with some players getting massive overhauls.

I would argue that they were completely off-base with their rookie class. If they have to boost Jaylen Wells (#39 pick) SEVEN POINTS just because he's in the rotation (Read: Not thriving - Just playing), then it's pretty clear their process is ****ed up.

I had Huff at 74 last year based on his 3-years of NBA production and G-League career (2023 DPOY). 2K could not be bothered to adjust a 2-Way player over the course of 1,000 days.

Every time someone enters the rotation, starting lineup, etc, they shouldn't REQUIRE a massive ratings boost.

        MASSIVE MOVERS (5 or more)
        84 (+5) Buddy Hield (GSW)
        84 (+5) Norman Powell LAC)
        84 (+5) Jordan Poole (WAS)
        83 (+5) Dennis Schroder (BKN)
        82 (+6) Gradey Dick (TOR)
        79 (+5) Dyson Daniels (ATL)
        75 (+7) Jaylen Wells (MEM)
        75 (+5) Ryan Dunn (PHX)
        74 (+7) Jay Huff (MEM)

Hield, Powell, Poole, Schroder, Dick are legitimately improved.
Dyson Daniels? All he did was enter the starting lineup.

        STARS (85+)
        96 (+2) Anthony Davis (LAL)
        96 (+1) Jayson Tatum (BOS)
        95 (+1) Kevin Durant (PHX)
        94 (+1) Anthony Edwards (MIN)
        93 (+1) Jaylen Brown (BOS)
        93 (+1) Donovan Mitchell (CLE)
        90 (+1) Damian Lillard (MIL)
        90 (+1) Paolo Banchero (ORL)
89 (+1) Karl Anthony Towns (NYK)
        89 (+1) Domantas Sabonis (SAC)
        88 (+1) Chet Holmgren (OKC)
        88 (+1) DeMar DeRozan (SAC)
        88 (+1) LaMelo Ball (CHA)
        87 (+3) Jarrett Allen (CLE)
        87 (+1) Evan Mobley (CLE)
        87 (+1) Derrick White (BOS)
        87 (-3) Tyrese Haliburton (IND)
        87 (-2) Jimmy Butler (MIA)
        87 (-2) Zion Williamson (NOP)
        87 (-1) Bam Adebayo (MIA)
        87 (+2) Brandon Ingram (NOP)
        87 (+1) Cade Cunningham (DET)
        86 (+4) Darius Garland (CLE)
        86 (+1) Julius Randle (MIN)
        85 (+2) Tyler Herro (MIA)
        85 (+1) Jalen Green (HOU)
        85 (-2) Jamal Murray (DEN)

Stars are typically not Big Movers which is why they get their own category. The incremental movement is more meaningful here.

Continuing to elevate company favorite Jalen Green is certainly a choice.
        2025 Herro: 21.3 PER, 66 TS%, 26 AST%, 27 USG%
        2025 Green: 15.7 PER, 54 TS%, 15 AST%, 29 USG%

I had Huff at 74 last year based on his 3-years of NBA production and G-League career (2023 DPOY). 2K could not be bothered to adjust a 2-Way player over the course of 1,000 days.

Every time someone enters the rotation, starting lineup, etc, they shouldn't REQUIRE a massive ratings boost.

          MASSIVE MOVERS (5 or more)
          84 (+5) Buddy Hield (GSW)
          84 (+5) Norman Powell LAC)
          84 (+5) Jordan Poole (WAS)
          83 (+5) Dennis Schroder (BKN)
          82 (+6) Gradey Dick (TOR)
          79 (+5) Dyson Daniels (ATL)
          75 (+7) Jaylen Wells (MEM)
          75 (+5) Ryan Dunn (PHX)
          74 (+7) Jay Huff (MEM)

Hield, Powell, Poole, Schroder, Dick are legitimately improved.
Dyson Daniels? All he did was enter the starting lineup.

          STARS (85+)
          96 (+2) Anthony Davis (LAL)
          96 (+1) Jayson Tatum (BOS)
          95 (+1) Kevin Durant (PHX)
          94 (+1) Anthony Edwards (MIN)
          93 (+1) Jaylen Brown (BOS)
          93 (+1) Donovan Mitchell (CLE)
          90 (+1) Damian Lillard (MIL)
          90 (+1) Paolo Banchero (ORL)
89 (+1) Karl Anthony Towns (NYK)
          89 (+1) Domantas Sabonis (SAC)
          88 (+1) Chet Holmgren (OKC)
          88 (+1) DeMar DeRozan (SAC)
          88 (+1) LaMelo Ball (CHA)
          87 (+1) Evan Mobley (CLE)
          87 (+2) Jarrett Allen (CLE)
          87 (+1) Derrick White (BOS)
          87 (-3) Tyrese Haliburton (IND)
          87 (-2) Jimmy Butler (MIA)
          87 (-2) Zion Williamson (NOP)
          87 (-1) Bam Adebayo (MIA)
          87 (+2) Brandon Ingram (NOP)
          87 (+1) Cade Cunningham (DET)
          86 (+4) Darius Garland (CLE)
          86 (+1) Julius Randle (MIN)
          85 (+2) Tyler Herro (MIA)
          85 (+1) Jalen Green (HOU)
          85 (-2) Jamal Murray (DEN)

Stars are typically not Big Movers which is why they get their own category. The incremental movement is more meaningful here.

Continuing to elevate company favorite Jalen Green is certainly a choice.
          2025 Herro: 21.3 PER, 66 TS%, 26 AST%, 27 USG%
          2025 Green: 15.7 PER, 54 TS%, 15 AST%, 29 USG%
Agree some of these don't make any sense. I love comment about Daniels. What has changed about him?

            PHILADELPHIA 76ERS

            POINT GUARDS
            89 (NC) Tyrese Maxey (16.6 PER, 52 TS%, 19 AST%, 31 USG%, 40 MPG)
            77 (+1) Kyle Lowry (18.0 PER, 76 TS%, 23 AST%, 12 USG%, 23 MPG)
74 (NC) Reggie Jackson (19 mins)
70 (NC) Jeff Dowtin (4 mins)

            -Tyrese Maxey
            Averaging 28 PPG but really inefficient. 52 TS% on 31 USG% (9th in NBA)
Leading league with 39.7 MPG (was 2nd last season)
            OVR should have dropped (-5 TS%, -8 AST%)
Just tweaked his hamstring and will miss next ratings cycle.

-Lowry likely starts in his place.
            -Jackson likely enters rotation.

            SHOOTING GUARDS
            79 (NC) Kelly Oubre Jr (12.0 PER, 52 TS%, 24 USG%, 32 MPG)
            73 (+3) Jared McCain (19.4 PER, 55 TS%, 21 AST%, 25 USG%, 11 MPG)
71 (NC) Lester Quinones (3 mins)

-Oubre is averaging 17 PPG but isn't good enough at "Shooting" to be a net positive here.
-McCain has played well in limited minutes, and the #16 pick obviously shouldn't have been this low to begin with.
-McCain still rates lower than Reggie Jackson, who is out of the rotation.

-Oubre's Top 10 Lineups thus far (not a fan of his SG classification):
            Maxey-Lowry-Oubre-C.Martin-Drummond (47 mins)
            Maxey-Gordon-Oubre-C.Martin-Drummond (30 mins)
            Maxey-George-Oubre-C.Martin-Drummond (20 mins)
            Maxey-Lowry-Oubre-C.Martin-Yabusele (19 mins)
            Maxey-Gordon-Oubre-K.Martin-Drummond (16 mins)
            Maxey-McCain-Oubre-C.Martin-Drummond (7 mins)
            Maxey-George-Oubre-C.Martin-Yabusele (6 mins)
            Maxey-McCain-Council-Oubre-Drummond (5 mins)
            Maxey-Oubre-C.Martin-K.Martin-Drummond (5 mins)

Even if we swap George/Oubre he plays with two other guards in all his other significant lineups.

            SMALL FORWARDS
89 (NC) Paul George (55 mins)
            76 (NC) Eric Gordon (7.9 PER, 56 TS%, 10 AST%, 15 USG%, 4 DRB%)
73 (NC) Ricky Council IV (37 mins)
            68 (NC) Justin Edwards (DNP)

-Only two games back for George, not enough sample to project anything.
-Really dislike Gordon being listed as SF. Oubre is obviously the 3 when they share the court.

            POWER FORWARDS
            77 (+1) Caleb Martin (8.0 PER, 45 TS%, 18 USG%, 8 ORB%, 16 DRB%, 34 MPG)
            76 (+2) Guerschon Yabusele (15.3 PER, 61 TS%, 19 USG%, 9 ORB%, 15 DRB%, 20 MPG)
            74 (NC) KJ Martin (13.1 PER, 73 TS%, 8 USG%, 3 ORB%, 17 DRB%, 17 MPG)

-I assume Caleb Martin went up because his rebounding increase (+3 ORB%, +2 DRB%) outweighed his poor shooting (-8 TS%)

-If 2K is putting Gordon at the 3 to balance the rotation, why isn't Yabu at the 5?

            CENTERS
            96 (NC) Joel Embiid (DNP)
            77 (-1) Andre Drummond (12.6 PER, 52 TS%, 17 USG%, 15 ORB%, 33 DRB%, 2.1 BLK%, 27 MPG)
69 (NC) Adem Bona (12 mins)

-Drummond's efficiency is in the tubes, though not exactly uncommon for him.
-Poor defense is why Yabu played over him in the Phoenix game. Career low BLK rate.
-Rotation worth monitoring once Embiid returns.

            TIER CHANGES
            Role Player (75-79): Guerschon Yabusele

I noticed a lot of rookie heights and weight are wrong.
              Some examples:
Edey 7’5”. He is 7’4” (from NBA site)
              Risacher 6’10” he is 6’8
              Sarr 7’1” vs 7’0”

              Wake up 2K, come on

To be fair, the NBA itself is all over the place with it's data.

The team sites & "Official" listings are actually outdated.

Compare the Heights/Weights on the "Official" Hawks roster...
Discover the Atlanta Hawks Roster on the official team website. See the current Hawks lineup, coaching staff, player stats, and more.

...to the Training Camp Roster (these are actually getting updated year-to-year)

Trae Young for example has been 180 lbs for two years but keeps getting dropped down to his 164 rookie weight.
                Risacher's Camp listing was 6'9" / 215

                ------------------

Now of course, 2K completely botched this Rookie class from top to bottom and who knows where some of those figures came from. They are bringing the wrong people in.

                    MILWAUKEE BUCKS

                    POINT GUARD
                    90 (+1) Damian Lillard: 23.0 PER, 64 TS%, 30 AST%, 30 USG%, 36 MPG
                    74 (-1) Delon Wright: 5.0 PER, 54 TS%, 8 AST%, 8 USG%, 13 MPG
71 (NC) Ryan Rollins: 17 mins
69 (NC) AJ Johnson: 6 mins

-Dame back to his usual self. Production reflects Tyrese Maxey definitely should have gone down this cycle.

-Only 2 PPG for Wright, but more concerning is his 8 AST% (-13) reflects an off-ball role. Rivers is notorious for killing the value of role players, dating back to his Boston years.

                    SHOOTING GUARD
                    77 (-1) Gary Trent Jr: 3.3 PER, 43 TS%, 15 USG%, 6 DRB%, 4 AST%, 30 MPG
                    74 (+2) A.J. Green: 19.6 PER, 91 TS%, 14 USG%, 12 MPG
                    73 (-1) Pat Connaughton: 8.3 PER, 47 TS%, 13 USG%, 17 DRB%, 17 MPG

-Trent was so bad he lost his starting job to Andre Jackson. At only -1, 2K wasn't aggressive enough here. The 3-Ball isn't falling and he isn't attacking the rim at all.

-Green: There has always dichotomy between how 2K treats hot players vs how they treat slumping players.

                    SMALL FORWARD
                    85 (NC) Khris Middleton: DNP
                    76 (+1) Taurean Prince: 12.3 PER, 75 TS%, 9 USG%, 29 MPG
                    72 (-1) Marjon Beauchamp: 13 mins
                    72 (NC) Andre Jackson Jr: 5.5 PER, 48 TS%, 15 USG%, 12 MPG
                    70 (NC) Stanley Umude: DNP

-Prince, starting for Middleton, is among the only overachieving role players on the team.
-Jackson and Connaughton should have their positions swapped moving forward. Worth noting Jackson has been SF/PF up to this point (which makes sense since you can't play him w/ Giannis). We'll see how long that lasts.

                    Rollins-Green-Beauchamp-Jackson-Smith

                    POWER FORWARD
                    97 (NC) Giannis Antetokounmpo: 29.6 PER, 63 TS%, 37 AST%, 34 USG%, 6 ORB%, 32 DRB%, 1.3 BLK%, 35 MPG
                    80 (NC) Bobby Portis: 14.2 PER, 51 TS%, 23 USG%, 9 ORB%, 28 DRB%, 3.0 BLK%, 26 MPG
                    69 (NC) Chris Livingston: DNP

Giannis continues to do dominate the stat sheet, but his defense has slipped over the years and 2K's never really accounted for it.

                    2024: 19th
                    2025: 21st

-Portis is another role player who has shot poorly. Despite shooting 4-18 3PT, he maintains an 84 3PT rating.

                    CENTER
                    79 (-1) Brook Lopez: 11.3 PER, 50 TS%, 17 USG%, 7.2 BLK%, 31 MPG
69 (NC) Tyler Smith: 15 mins
67 (NC) Liam Robbins: 5 mins

Lopez' 3-Ball isn't falling (-9%), but will probably level out. His 53 2PT% (-9%) is worth monitoring. Lopez was able to carry a higher offensive load in 2023 when Middleton was out, but so far that hasn't come to pass (albeit the team didn't have Dame in 2023).

I'm pretty sure most Wingspans are just the default number for the corresponding height.

Rookie class was 100% botched, whoever got the assignment this year took a lot of shortcuts at best, can't manage data at worst.

                          Just caught another 2K Typo

                          Andre Jackson Jr
25 Block (was 52 last year)
                          2024: 0.9 BLK% (obviously not a 25)

Along w/ the Hartenstein thing, whatever intern they hired is sloppy AF this year.

                            NEW YORK KNICKS

                            POINT GUARD
                            93 (NC) Jalen Brunson: 20.7 PER, 57 TS%, 28 AST%, 32 USG%, 34 MPG
                            75 (NC) Cam Payne: 12.4 PER, 42 TS%, 29 AST%, 21 USG%, 15 MPG
70 (NC) Tyler Kolek: 29 mins
                            67 (NC) Boo Buie: DNP

Brunson's AST% is down (-6) but nothing to otherwise worry about.
Dame's resurgence + Haliburton's regression, he's locked in as a Top 2 PG in East

                            SHOOTING GUARD
                            82 (NC) Josh Hart: 17.0 PER, 66 TS%, 18 AST%, 16 USG%, 6 ORB%, 23 DRB%, 36 MPG
                            78 (+2) Miles McBride: 14.2 PER, 59 TS%, 16 AST%, 19 USG%, 26 MPG
69 (NC) Kevin McCullar Jr: DNP

Honestly a bit odd Hart's OVR didn't go up but that's probably because 2K should have him at PF instead.

                            Hart Lineups
                            Brunson-Bridges-Anunoby-Hart-Towns
                            Payne-McBride-Bridges-Hart-Towns (THIS IS THE TELL)
                            Brunson-McBride-Bridges-Hart-Sims (THIS RIGHT HERE)
                            Brunson-McBride-Anunoby-Hart-Sims
                            Brunson-McBride-Anunoby-Hart-Towns
                            Kolek-McBride-Bridges-Hart-Sims (RIGHT HERE)
                            Brunson-McBride-Bridges-Hart-Towns (HELLOOOOOO)
                            Brunson-Payne-Anunoby-Hart-Towns
                            Payne-McBride-Bridges-Hart-Towns (Bridges SF lineup #5)
                            Kolek-McBride-Anunoby-Hart-Towns

McBride is in all but two of Hart's lineups. Hart is not the SG.

-As far as McBride, his OVR is up primarily because his skillset fits better at the 2.

                            SMALL FORWARD
                            84 (NC) Mikal Bridges: 14.4 PER, 59 TS%, 18 USG%, 7 DRB%, 37 MPG
71 (NC) Matt Ryan - DNP
                            69 (NC) Pacome Dadiet - 23 mins

Bridges' rebound rate should again be a major tell on what position he's playing.

                            POWER FORWARD
                            84 (NC) OG Anunoby: 13.7 PER, 59 TS%, 16 USG%, 11 DRB%, 37 MPG
                            76 (NC) Precious Achiuwa: DNP
67 (NC) Jacob Toppin: 10 mins

                            Again, same with OG.

                            CENTER
                            89 (+1) Karl Anthony Towns: 27.9 PER, 64 TS%, 28 USG%, 13 ORB%, 34 DRB%, 3.1 BLK%
                            80 (NC) Mitchell Robinson: DNP
                            72 (NC) Jericho Sims: 6.7 PER, 58 TS%, 5 USG%, 11 ORB%, 37 TO%, 13 MPG
68 (NC) Ariel Hukporti: 29 mins

Towns' numbers are through the roof now that he's playing his natural Center position again.
                            13 ORB% (+7) - 10th in NBA (Career High)
                            34 DRB% (+12) - 3rd in NBA (Career High)
                            24 REB% (+10) - 1st in NBA (Career High)
                            3.1 BLK% (+1.3)

Yet Towns only has a 52 ORB rating, 82 DRB rating.

The only attributes this buffoon in the 2K office could be bothered to update
                            89 3pt (+2)
                            75 Shot IQ (+5)
                            98 OffCon (+3)

                              CLEVELAND CAVALIERS
I've written a lot about this team in my ratings topic, so won't add too much more.
Many player stats for the 9-0 team are absurd
Team reminds me a bit of the 2004 Pistons with shades of the Sheed/Ben frontcourt + Garland/Mitchell playing the roles of a hypercharged Billups/Hamilton

                              POINT GUARD
                              86 (+4) Darius Garland: 22.2 PER, 66 TS%, 33 AST%, 26 USG%, 29 MPG
                              75 (+3) Ty Jerome: 27.6 PER, 70 TS%, 27 AST%, 22 USG%, 15 MPG
72 (NC) Craig Porter Jr: 29 mins

                              SHOOTING GUARD
                              93 (+1) Donovan Mitchell: 21.0 PER, 60 TS%, 20 AST%, 20 USG%, 30 MPG
                              75 (+1) Sam Merrill: 11.6 PER, 64 TS%, 15 USG%, 20 MPG

Not sure why Mitchell is going up.

                              SMALL FORWARD
                              79 (+2) Caris LeVert: 23.4 PER, 71 TS%, 27 AST%, 19 USG%, 23 MPG
                              77 (NC) Max Strus: DNP
                              76 (NC) Isaac Okoro: 11.2 PER, 62 TS%, 10 USG%, 20 MPG
                              75 (+3) Dean Wade: 11.1 PER, 54 TS%, 12 USG%, 18 DRB%, 24 MPG
70 (NC) Jaylon Tyson: 21 mins
69 (NC) Luke Travers: 7 mins
                              68 (NC) Emoni Bates: DNP

With SEVEN Small Forwards I'd just move Strus to SG and be done with it.

                              POWER FORWARD
                              87 (+1) Evan Mobley: 20.0 PER, 58 TS%, 25 USG%, 24 DRB%, 5.6 BLK%, 30 MPG
                              73 (NC) Georges Niang: 8.7 PER, 55 TS%, 14 USG%, 16 DRB%
                              70 (NC) JT Thor: DNP

                              CENTER
                              87 (+3) Jarrett Allen: 23.6 PER, 71 TS%, 17 USG%, 35 DRB%, 4.2 BLK%, 31 MPG
70 (NC) Tristan Thompson: 23 mins

                              TIER JUMPS
All-Star (85-89): Jarrett Allen, Darius Garland
Role Player: (75-79): Dean Wade, Ty Jerome, Sam Merrill

Overall a pretty meaningful update for this team.
