It's improved but there's a lot of (difficult) work left to do.

At the very least there's not much random sliding when a player's just moving without any physical contact. It's when they're crowded and in collision with another player that there's sliding because the tech to have players take proper stutter and balance steps hasn't been fully developed yet. It's still much better than CG when contact happens.

Everytime I see Westbrook in a 2K NG interview, I expect him to say "I controlled it like a man."

No one can claim to eliminate sliding. I don't think anyone inside of VC said any more than "a lot less sliding".
