So let me get this straight they created a fictional player to act as your rival solely to fit some one size fit all script. Well that seals it I'll pass on NBA2k14.

Ok, so this MyPlayer experience has been somewhat interesting so far, some things good, some bad.

Rookie Showcase: ended up with 16pts, 9reb, 5ast, went 4th (this surprised me) in the draft to Charlotte. Athletic SF.

Pros:
-Gameplay is awesome. Can feel the footplanting but yet the movement doesn't feel sluggish or heavily weighted, especially when changing directions.

-Graphics are a nice step up from current gen. Aminations seem smoother as a whole, and definitely more lifelike.

-Presentation is nice and clean. Love that you can assign arena sounds to certain actions of your player. Very nice touch.


Cons:

-Cutscenes are super cheddar and unnecessary. I'm not a big fan of off-the-court related musings, would rather see more depth with basketball related things, stats, AI logic, etc....

-Not seeing an option to change quarter length (WTF, mildly gamebreaking, especially for stat-driven players)

-No sitdowns with the GM anymore? Mode is missing lots of things that other posters have mentioned (CAP & customization, practice/drills/shootaround)

I assumed that this mode would be a "lite" version of the current gen, but I wonder if the gameplay alone can keep me interested to get through a season (although an announcement of carry-over saves for next year would do it instantly, LOL). The game plays like butter, but not being able to sim and play key games, and apparently having zero say so in terms of trades & playing with other teammates can really zap the lifespan of the mode. All in all I dig it though, going to try to bust through about 20-30 games and maybe I'll have some more succinct observations and opinions to share. Kind of all over the place at the moment. Off to play a couple more games (we are 6-6 right now)
