Disappointing GM Mode

The GM mode is disappointing. The Cpu still make stupid trades like Calderon a back up for Rondo. The trade logic is still broken!!!!!!!!!

So pls bring back the 30 Team controlAssociation Mode.

Again...

Like all of us i was very hyped about 2k14 on next-gen.. graphic is excellent, gameplay looks smoother and there are a few new animations.. playing the games is so much fun !!


BUT...

I am so dissapointed about the new MYGM Mode

Its the same ****ty AI Logic as always... teams still making stupid trades, regardless of whether they are rebuilding oder not.. see already some scenarios like Jeff Teague ends up being Backup for Rajon Rondo at the Celtics..
And this year you cant just trade Teague back to the Hawks using trade override..

In addition to that.. its still to easy to land Superstars in free agency.. if you give them the Money they want.. they will join your Team most of the time.. so you can get nearly every player you want...

Owner Goals are totally off sometimes.. Bottom Teams in Rebuilding Mode should win over 46 Games?? U Are kiddin mee????
Other Teams who are contending for championship have to acquire another 1-st Round Pick for the draft.. WHY?

Dont get me wrong.. I like this Game, enjoying the gameplay and graphics.. but i am so dissapointed i cant get a realistic association feeling this year

Hope they will fix the broken AI in 2k15.. please 2k!

He is. That actually isn't a bad trade.

Calderon often is a backup PG anyways (well, for the raptors at least) so what's so wrong with it?

Calderon was traded for Bass.

I think in real life either boston nor the mavs would do this trade.

i'm trying to like MyGM and give it plenty of time before i have any serious negative thoughts about it. just a few things that seem odd to me:

1) you can't change the contract amount that you offer free agents? i had all the contract skills unlocked and i basically have to choose w/e my GM says the offer is, or walk away. i guess there's no way to offer player options or ETO's (was hoping) or any sort of poison pill deals? kinda stinks. when i think of GM mode, i think of being Daryl Morey.

2) why are STARTERS asking for 6th man roles with their new contracts? i was the Suns and i had traded away Dragic so Bledsoe was my PG of the future and Hayward was my SG for now. when contract negotiations came up, Bledose wanted a 4yr deal for $26mil (good deal) but he wanted to be 6th man. that's just weird. he'd been starting the whole time. Hayward ended up wanting a 2yr $12mil deal (lol) and a 6th man role.

3) like JoelMali said: owner goals are kinda weird. the only one that seemed weird to me was how in my 1st year he asked me to get a good 1st round draft pick AND make our roster a top 15 team. i did those things and when the next season started i was asked to get more 1st round picks. I THINK THE SUNS HAVE ENOUGH YOUNG TALENT, THANKS. ha.

4) teams don't seem to have accurate picks, ie: the Knicks have all of their picks.


so, i really enjoy this mode so far. calling up other gm's is a great idea and i love it. i just wish that there was a little bit more focus on actual nba association things. seems like this mode is going to be a grind if you normally like simming your seasons in association mode.

edit: can a mod make this a general MyGM thread instead of just a negative one??

Working on ai is like peeling an onion. There are so many different things that need to be done to get even simple fixes in. It is never easy.

With that being said, simple changes can be done to alleviate some problems - as long as the engine you are using is flexible enough to handle it.

2K says they built a new engine for the new generation. I totally believe them. There are still going to be legacy issues from the original that they began with.

Expecting a perfect logic this year was not realistic - even in current(old) generation logic there were changes made you can see and that is all we can ask for, especially when transitioning from one engine to the next.

No sports game has ever had strong enough Ai to have the cpu make realistic decisions. They can't
code common sense, in fact in general I think 2k has he best ai but its still not good enough. 30 team control is a must for sports game season/career modes.

Or it's just neglected, like association was.

The AI doesn't have to be genius, but there are small things that can be done to make it better(i'm talking about AI in every mode, not just trade logic)

It's extremely difficult. You don't see good trading logic even in games focused on the managerial aspect like Football Manager or Eastside Hockey Manager. If you can ask the AI teams for offers, you can bet a human player will find a way to exploit it.

One aspect that I think could solve this is if when you initiated a trade the value for the AI to accept a deal needed be higher than if the AI came to you with a trade proposal. This way you could still make favorable trades with the AI but if you had a need for a trade it would be harder to find what you wanted as the other GMs would act accordingly, knowing that they hold the advantage when you're the one shopping your players.

yeah, that makes sense. i didn't really see any negative from it, just thought it was odd. but if that's how they have to do it to fix players from demanding too much, then i'll take it.

I've been playing MyGM for a few hours now and the mode is a failure IMO and here's why.

The computer AI still makes ****ty trades that screw up your association. Only now, you have less control and can't fix it.

This is a problem that the 2K series has faced for years but at least on the current gen versions, there are workarounds you can employ to fix bad trades and keep your association as realistic or unrealistic as you like.

Here's a few that I've noticed on the PS4 version so far.

1. You can't select an option to prevent CPU trades.
2. No trade override. - Meaning you can't reverse bad trades by the CPU anymore.
3. You can't control multiple teams.
4. You no longer have the ability to edit everything. This came in handy when you were 4-5 years deep and realize that the league has almost 20 players rated 90+.
5. Start season from today option has been removed. - I loved when they introduced this feature. I don't always want to start a new association from day 1 and the fact that this would bring in the real life, standings, stats, etc for your Association added to the experience IMO.

Overall, MyGM is a nice concept but I would like to get back some of the editable controls we lost from the currentGen game.
