I had this error and mine actually fixed itself. I was so frustrated that I just started flipping through menus and looking at rosters and then I tried it again without expecting any real results, and it worked perfectly. That was last night and I haven't tried to load it today so it might be bugged again, but I'm not sure. This error is really a gamebreaker because the main thing I do in 2K is play My Career, it's been that way for 4 years now.

If not done already with Sony, also we'd suggest trying their official guide for booting into Safe Mode:

From this guide, what we'd suggest is the "Rebuild Database" option. Note: The Initializing option does state that it will wipe your date. When booting into Safe Mode, please make sure not to choose this option.
If this does not help, a few questions answered will be able to further assist us:
- Where is this happening? Specifically which screen? If this is MyGM, MyTeam, or MyPlayer, where exactly in this game mode?
- What was the last action taken when last playing without issue?
- What process did you follow when turning off your console after this previous gaming session?
- Are you using a previous account from a PS3, or a newly created account?
- Can you provide a screen capture of any error message or any screen where your game is hanging?

Also please provide us more information about your account
  • Gamertag/PSNid:
  • Email Address Attached to your MyPlayer Account:
  • + The names of all MyCareer save files that are corrupted as they show on your console's HDD
  • **A Screenshot for every corrupt file showing that the MyCareer File(s) is corrupted or any error message**

i edited player ratings & got the same error, when i didn't edit the ratings, it worked fine
Just tried this and still got the error... My game immediately loads me into my game against the Spurs soon as we score and it's a dead ball it crashes
