how does the GM mode hold up?

I plan to pick up an xbox one and this game soon. This GM mode is something I've been wanting in a sports game since ESPN NFL 2k5. I haven't played a basketball sim in over 8 years but I really want to play that GM mode. Does this mode alone make it worth a purchase?

Also, can you watch the games be played by the a.i. and not be forced to actually play them?

Thanks in advance.

Re: how does the GM mode hold up?

The wise game developers took out coach mode so no watching games. You can sim your games, but the GM part of the game is not very engaging and you can complete a season in 5 minutes. Also, various upgrades and skills in MyGM cost VC. Therefore, you will either need to:

1) play games to earn VC and upgrade your skills.
2) use your credit card to buy VC. Then go play something else with all the free time you have.

Good luck,

Wow! That's disappointing. I guess I'll skip buying the game then. That was my only motivation for purchase. Thank for the info.

Re: how does the GM mode hold up?

My 2 cents

I really enjoy the MyGM mode. I have never played a basketball game as much as I have NBA 2K14 PS4. MyGM has its flaws, VC point balancing being one of them, but it is super entertaining to level your GM up. The different positions you need to fill (CEO, AGM, Scout) all have meaningful attributes that impact your ability to control the management's aspects of the game (i.e. your assistant GM being a snake and not reminding you about important deadlines). Cool being able to hire Steve Nash as the Raps Assistant Coach.

Obviously the presentation is second to none. I have had a great time playing MyGM.

I really like mygm mode. I think it holds up and is worth playing. Besides the issues it had a month or so ago I am really happy with the game and this mode.

Aside from the VC crap, MyGM is very fun. Just avoid NBA.com News because players who have headbands will lose it and there is no way to equip it back.

Haven't played the mode, because I don't want to waste and VC when I still need to improve My Career guy (isn't it stupid we have to choose?) but how much VC is needed for this mode? Is it a necessity?
