I lost 100+ hours of work that I put into my roster because their server corrupted the roster file. I couldn't have a local copy to protect against this, and neither could anyone else. There's no excuse for this setup combined with their shoddy servers.

Just wanted to add that what 2K does is not DRM. It is however worse. With DRM you just need to verify you have a legal copy of the game, this is done by each console for every game so is not needed. They don't use access pass codes. What 2K is doing that is worse by forcing micro transactions onto to customers who paid the full price for the game.
The level of micro transactions in 2K are on the level of plants verses zombies 2(PVZ2), but PVZ2 is free to play.
You can no longer play 2K without being forced to participate in the pay to play model.
I don't plan on buying 2k15, but not because of the micro transactions. My beef is with the lack of updates and fixes, when paired with pay model... sucks.
2K wants me to dump money in the game, but they are not actively moving the game forward. They have an issue, and I must delete my character. Really. I am sure NBA live will make a jump next year, at least a big enough jump to get me to try. Otherwise, I will play other games. I was spending to much time playing 2K anyway.

Just want to point out one thing in your post - you CAN move the game forward without buying VC. Just not at the pace you want. It's all part of the model they (and many other developers now) use.

Good point, but you forget between December and February, you couldn't play any mode but the online modes on some consoles. This is a direct result of the pay 2 play model.

If they did not add that complexity then the offline play would have not depended on connecting to 2K servers.
