Need help with Defense. PS4
I recently made the move to Superstar and I am having a lot of issues on defense. I feel like my on ball d is OK but my CPU teamates give too much space and on this skill level the CPU very rarely misses open shots. I read a bunch of help ideas here on OS and found a lot of helpful things but nothing really on how to get my CPU teamates to stop sagging off of good shooters. I've tried many different teams and many different points of emphasis but I'm really struggling. I won 10 straight games on the lower level and was starting to blow teams out so I feel like I had to move up to Superstar but I'm getting more and more frustrated with each team I play shooting 58% or better from the field. Is there a coach setting to have my defenders play tighter that I just don't know about? Any ideas would be very helpful. ThanksTags: None -
Re: Need help with Defense. PS4
I recently made the jump to Superstar for the same reason as you, and struggled at first on defense. Now I usually play "Limit perimiter shots" while I control the C/PF. My teamates do a pretty good job of contesting outside shots now while I take care of the paint. -

Yeah that's pretty much what I do. Control the center and turn on limit perimeter shots. Maybe I just need to get better? I swear some of the old versions of this game had a spot where you could crank up the pressure on individual guys and I hoped maybe I had just not been able to find it in the options somewhere. Guess I'd better just be Miami or Indiana if I want my guys to play D. I think some of my problem is I'd like to bring a low end team up to win a title but playing D with Utah is pretty much impossible. I guess you can't have realistic games and expect to win a whole lot right away with the Jazz though. I'll either have to quit whining about it or pick a good team I guess.Comment

Re: Need help with Defense. PS4
This my philosophy and I still do fine with it and I've used this basic strategy vs the HOF CPU and vs users with great success.
I can't get the link to work so just check my sig below and it's the last link.Last edited by Coach2K; 02-15-2014, 02:50 PM.For MyNBA, MyLeague & MyGM content, follow Coach2K on X by clicking here.

Re: Need help with Defense. PS4
Limit Perimeter Shots and control the C/PF's. I'm in the Finals in my first year with the Bucks (starting lineup: Drummond, Landry, Dorell Wright, T Ross, Bayless) and lead the league in team blocks, Drummond won DPOY. I'm playing on Superstar Sim. Usually when you play LPS, the CPU tries to kill you with the pick and roll game on the perimeter or post you.
The problem is your CPU teammates don't contest shots. LPS will usually stop the computer from jacking up shots where there's someone close but certain players (Jeremy Lamb, Carmelo, JR Smith, Kev Martin, etc) will shoot regardless. That's when you need to get good at switching over to their man and jumping, then switching back to the C/PF. Just be sure the man you are supposed to guarding is not an offensive threat.
Oh yeah, and the Jazz suck on this game. I had a My GM with them, but their offense is too stagnant. That flex offense is garbage, they just stand around alot. The coach and team has always mattered on 2k games, even more so than the players.Last edited by dalastkiller; 02-15-2014, 02:52 PM.Comment

What team are you using ? I've noticed low-rated on ball/def awareness defenders react slower than good defenders.
