I would consider myself a slightly above average 2k player. I play on All-Star using the 2k Simulation sliders. I don't win every game now, and most of the wins are 10 points or less so it makes the games really good. All-Star doesn't give any extra bonuses to the CPU (unlike Superstar and Hall of Fame), so using it with Sim slides gives good, solid gameplay in my opinion.

I'm using All-Star sim. Unpatched, by the way.

I'm not exactly sure what was changed gameplay-wise with 2K's updates, and I know you hate sliders, but All-Star sim still needed some tweaks on my end.

After stat tracking, user blocks, primarily, were out of control. Pro for whatever reason, didn't have that issue.

So other than dropping my block slider, and raising the cpu's, I've pretty much left everything as is minus:

Dropping FG sliders a few clicks (and raising game speed to compensate), and maxing out the fouls sliders.

A couple other small tweaks, but otherwise, for me, All-Star sim is excellent.

To add to this, what quarter length are you using?

Just bought the game. Played a few games on Pro, upgraded to All-Star recently. Tweaked user and cpu shooting as I felt FG% was too high.

Started out 0-2 with 76ers but have won my last 5. Might have to tweak shooting some more. I average right around 50% fg and 40% 3pt fg per game. Have also moved cpu defense way up but I still get so many wide open shots.

Won the last game 92-79 over the Cavs(12 minute quarers). I try to play as close to sim as I can. I want realistic scores and stats. Have to play 12 minute quarters to get the proper rebounding stats. 10 minute just doesn't get it.

Might have to upgrade to the next level and continue tweaking.

I've reduced shooting on both sides quite a bit (low 40's except for 3's which is 3 clicks I think below default, 2 for the CPU) but as a result, I had to raise Game Speed to 54 so the CPU would score enough points.

I think I get the best games on All-Star difficulty.

Just wanted to add that I use Real FG% too. I like my sports game to be as sim as possible, meaning removing myself and my gaming ability from the equation whenever the option is there.

Superstar-Sim is most fun and realistic to me

All-Star, Sim, with 12 minute quarters.

Upgraded to Superstar, 12 minute quarters. Defensive sliders for both user and cpu maxed out. Steals for cpu down to 15. Moved up the CPU mid range and look for post tendancies about 10 points.

So far in my 76ers season I'm 1-4 with scores being right around 100 give or take 10. Very realistic since my Sixers are horrible but I've been competitive every game.

I made no roster adjustments other than to sign a free agent sixth man for one of my goals...he immediately was injured for the season.

I believe I'm more than capable of handling All-Star/Sim. I usually lead at half-time and both me and the A.I's stats are very realistic- I play 12 minute quarter and during the first half the score between both teams are around 100-120 points. Then come the second half and the CPU starts to heat up, dropping 35+ each quarter. Now I don't really mind about this, but when playing on this difficulty, my A.I teammate's help defense is so terrible. Nobody seems to come help protect the paint, players sag off against 3pt specialists, and the opponent's on-ball defense becomes somewhat flawless and they recover so quickly to the point that it makes it unrealistic. This is the part that gets me frustrated hence I tend to switch back down to Pro/Sim settings.

Also anyone feel the game sometimes delays? What I mean by this is whenever I try to drive to the paint, with say LeBron or D-Wade, and kick it back out to the open man, it sometimes 'sucks' my player into this annoying animation. By the time I kick the ball out, the CPU would have already recovered back to the open man since they have such amazing recovery time ...
