"Hustle" and "Awareness" are the two ratings that determine how quickly a player will react to a loose ball.

The "Scrapper" signature skill will also momentarily give a player +5 speed & +5 quickness whenever the ball comes loose.

It's ridiculous how scripted this game is. I swear everytime I play the CPU they go on this insane run where they won't miss and I can't grab a single rebound. It's ridiculous and a huge flaw in the game. Without defensive assignments playing defense is useless.

The thing that bothers me is the shot or move is that scope layup/shot a player put up with heavy contact where they throw the ball under your arms. The success rte is to high even for halloffame. I didn't even know you could miss that shot till the other day. Trust me i have logged in a lot of games.

For those mentioning the CPU changing your defensive assignment, or warping out of position when you are trying to contest a drive, layup or shot. You have to turn off the defense assist on the controller settings. It will take you a few minutes to get used to, but you will certainly get out of those unwanted animations where you lose control of your defender.

What is happening is the CPU has changed your optimal position for defending based on the man they think you should be guarding as opposed to where the ball is. I find this pulling me out of position too many times to play help defense or the reaction is too slow. Like a pass still in flight the CPU reacts incorrectly and you can't get where you want to go.

Defense Assist to 0 will cure this.

Alley-oops are pretty much unstoppable.

I hate the way help defense works in MyPlayer mode. If your man gets by you, someone will leave a 3 point shooter WIDE open and they'll dish it out to them for the automatic bucket.

Instead, why can't a big just protect the paint?

Agree with everything you said except the very last phrase. There are more issues than this but this is definitely one of the issues.
