Yeah you get to hear the rim sound a lot when the Knicks are playing because they brick a lot of shots. When you play the Spurs it's the swish sound that gets annoying.

this has always been a pet peeve of mine in 2k. Same goes for when a player jumps and you can hear them land.

Re: *NBA 2K (net/rim) sounds...

I agree that the ball/rim interaction sounds a little off. My initial impression is when the ball hits the rim it sounds too "clangy" rather than a "muffled thud". This happens a lot during games so I hope that it could be looked at.

Real **** right here. On court sounds need an overhaul.

Re: *NBA 2K (net/rim) sounds...

It also depends on which broadcast it is and how they mic their rim... Brick shots that hit the rim hard pretty much do sound like the sound ppl complain about, if you turn it up really loud.

IIRC they actually did record all their rim and net sounds in an arena, so maybe the volume levels are just too high or compressed

Re: *NBA 2K (net/rim) sounds...

This is another one of those things where I wish I knew how these sound effects were being created, just because they so often tend to miss the mark. Must they be created organically from scratch in a sound booth using stalks of celery? Or are they capturing in a gymnasium, but on non-NBA hoops, courts and arenas? I always thought maybe they were basing some of their sounds off of non-standard NBA stanchions where the rims may be a little looser or something of that nature.

Then again, maybe it's a matter of tedium. When implementing new sounds they'd have to go through and apply the correct sound to each single shot, angle and approach, right? As in, swish sound for clean three pointer, subtle rim rub to net for those that graze, almost silent for light finishes inside, dull rim effect for back iron miss, etc.

Either way, it seems something could be done, no? At least for dunks?

Does it still sound like they're dunking in trashcans in a dark alley?
