Being to good (mycareer)

Are we to good to quick and to easy? My problem with this mode honestly is, its to easy to score, you can drop 50 and average 30 roughly by your 20th game, and while it may be fun at first, alot of people dont stick around past the 3rd season for good reason. The objective for this game mode MUST change, it shouldn't be at first to come into the NBA to be the greatest of all time but instead, just trying to stay on the team(avoid d league) being ready when your number is called while your just another player in a very competitive organisation. Your draft position puts you in the starting role, ok, even if you have vc stored/brought up to create a 99 ect your NOT going to get easy buckets as you'll be triple teamed and guarded continually by the best defensive player. Some nights/teams you go off and get that 50 but most nights it should be a war as teams Learn your player tendencies and adjust to stop you.

It should be noted that you should NEVER come in and replace a star but compliment each other ala Scottie to Jordan, Kobe to Shaq, Gary to Kemp, Amari to nash your to MUCH of a focal point in mycareer(this kills emersion) if a one of a kind duo arise out out drafts, trades ect you both should as well as the team become the focal point interdependent to each other to win big.

Roles would/should be assigned arcording to how many attributes you have raised and what they are, you only increase 3 shooting you be a three point specialist called upon in the 4th to tie or spread the floor same for defense youll be called upon to stop a teams best player.

Emersion is mycareer, its gets boring because you only do one thing, score, and its to easy because the cpu does nothing to stop you.

Re: Being to good (mycareer)

I created a center. It was tough the first few games just getting acclimated. But quickly turned into, it's a bad game if I don't hit 25 points, 18 rebounds, 4 blocked shots. Most games I'm over 35, 20, and 6. My guy never scores on me either, and I'm not really that good at this.

The problem I have with MyCareer, which probably isn't that easy to fix, is it doesn't seem too dynamic. You follow a story line that at least seems to be scripted to a point where the game or your success in them haven't really mattered to what I see so far. Maybe Im just not that far in. But the story and your success on the court seem to be two items independent of each other.

My problem as well, mycareer story wise is someone eles idea of how mycareer should be like nothing matters really, thats why cutscreens should be tied to things that happen on the court there should be hundreds of them, not some guy taking my phone and overreacting. Things like winning a championship, parades talking to the crowd more interviews and media attention as your team makes a historic playoff run things like that.

Yea you can avg 50 and "mycareer" will still act like your a run of the mills player no incentive to keep going if my accomplishments aren't at least talked about.

Re: Being to good (mycareer)

That's my biggest complaint. If I play on HOF my teammates will suck so I'll have to score 60 to win. Which once or twice in a blue moon is fine but every game?
i can be passive to reduce my scoring but then the team will suck.
I wish, especially for the first couple years, it'd be tough to score more than 15-20

Yeah I'm hoping the teammate AI is much better, I hate having to do majority of the scoring.

Re: Being to good (mycareer)

It's especially annoying if you don't want to be a scorer at all. I always make a 6'8 rodman type pf maxing out defense, rebounding and athleticism. Some like dribbling and scoring, i like defense and rebounding. But of course in mycareer every play is for me and when you turn of plays the ai will keep giving you the ball anyway. And when i go hide behind defenders they'll just stand around, do nothing and shoot a contested jumper at the buzzer. Sure, i can keep getting the boards and kick it back out but my team won't be winning that way. Not on HOF anyway.

Like OP said, roles would definitely be appreciated. And eventually those roles could translate to crew (pro am?) as well. I'd personally prefer if a crew can only have 2 or 3 stars and the rest have to be "role" players (like max 85 ovr), but i know i'll be in the minority for that idea.

Re: Being to good (mycareer)

This is why I think 2K needs to have a backstory kind of thing like Madden, where you choose your draft stock (early, late, undrafted etc) and this would affect how many upgrades you get. Say there are 100 possible upgrades, in your first season as a 1st pick you could use 50 possible upgrades, but undrafted only use maybe 20, so to be an elite player as a 1st pick wouldn't take long but to be the best you'd have to spend 5 or more years gradually improving.
