Possible noob question: What does it mean to "spread the floor?"

Okay, I realize this sounds like a really dumb question. But it keeps popping up in MyCareer coach directives, and I always fail it because I don't know exactly what it means.

Since it says to "create space for drivers," I thought it meant set picks and stay out of the paint. But nope.

When the coach wants you to spread the floor, as a center you'll play out on the perimeter to pull the bigmen away from the hoop. If you're setting screens out there, it's not bad, just pop out for a mid-range jumper instead of rolling to the basket for the inside shot.

All the other directives were really clear on what I had to do, except this one, thus I had to risk looking stupid by asking.

I guess it just goes to show that you'll never get an answer if you don't ask the question...
