Exactly.

Injuries to guys like Parker and Randle haven't helped, but this is a historically poor-performing rookie class to date.

That's not to say they won't one day be very good, but it's hard to justify high OVR ratings for any of them this year.

This was supposed to be one of the best classes ever...
This class is currently producing at something like -6 WAR, i.e. significantly below replacement level.

The 2013 class, which everyone trashed, was actually a total of 4.1 wins above replacement.

This class is on pace to have a worse rookie season than any class since the terrible 2000 draft. They might end up really good one day, but it's hard to justify high ratings for them currently.

IMO Exum was a hugely risky pick anyway--not a lot of data on him prior to the draft.

Re: No love for the rookies

This class when looking at it purely by potential could still end up being one of the best classes in a decade. Embid it out, Parker out, Randle out. Aaron Gordon hurt Doug McDermott hurt. Noah Vonleh was drafted for his potential, Dante Exum was all about potential and drafted the year after the Jazz just drafted a PG with a first. Stauskas was drafted two years after the Kings just draft an exact copy of him who happens to be the better athlete as well, so he isn't getting playing time. Elfrid Payton is doing good, Dario Saric was a pick and stash in the euroleagues, Zach LAvine a pure potential guy.

Josuf Nurkic Elfrid Peyton and Wiggins look like the best picks for THIS year just due to them all being healthy with Marcus Smart not looking half bad either. But in total, this years draft was all about potential, it could potentially be one of the best drafts in the past decade and hasn't lost any of the potential to be just that, it was never going to be a draft that would blow you out of the water statistically for its first year or two.
