***Mikelopedia's NBA2k15 Contracts Edits Guide***

Decided to give this it's own thread as there are so many more fixes required than I had anticipated, I don't expect bedwardsroy19 to get to these right away with how busy he is. So this can serve as an easy reference guide to make edits on your own to provide the most accurate MyLeague/MyGM experience possible! Mods, please sticky this if you deem it appropriate.

Below are contracts edits for every player in the league. A BIG thank you to Eric Pincus of basketballinsiders.com who directly helped me with some discrepancies I came across.

***Just a couple notes to keep in mind***
-1 year veteran minimum deals for players with 3 years experience or more only count against the cap as a vet with 2 years experience ($915k). The league reimburses the difference between their cap hit and the salary they're actually making based on their experience.

-This should go without saying but, players who are signed "for the remainder of the season" i.e. guys making a pro-rated portion of the minimum salary are given the full 1 year amount. This makes sense considering you are starting all your MyLeagues and MyGMs in October with these guys already on your roster.

-I calculated Klay Thompson's and Kyrie Irving's max extention numbers using the salary cap of 63.70m that is used for 2015-2016 in MyLeague and MyGM. Their real life numbers are not determined until the cap is set next year so any number you find on the internet is based on a projected cap.

I will update the OP for any player movement or as bedwardsroy19 implements the edits.

UPDATE: This list is now fully up to date through the last day of the season.

Re: ***Mikelopedia's NBA2k15 Contracts Edits Guide***

I personally edit Team/Player options to prevent the AI from making unrealistic/dumb moves. I remember years where Eddy Curry would decline his 9M Player option because he was unhappy with his PT (and then obviously goes unsigned). It will be a long time before I trust the AI with these.

I believe this also helps w/ trade value, I don't think the game factors in option years appropriately though this may have changed in the last two years.

As a general rule, any semi-productive 1st round pick is going to get their 2 option years picked up.
Cheap/productive non-guarantee players get the option picked up.
Overpaid players get the Player Option picked up.
Any player owed 50% of the contract will generally make the team (ex: Cameron Bairstow), however on the back end of a contract this can be viewed like a set buyout. Jamal Crawford (kept) and Al Harrington (waived) were examples of this. Anderson Varejao got a 3-year extension but structurally it's more like a 1-year 15M deal due to the guarantees (or lack thereof, in what will be his mid-30s).

It's also important to understand the game doesn't understand the difference between "Team Option" (which is archaic and no longer used by teams) and "Non-Guaranteed".

Team Options have to be picked up before the offseason starts, and if a player gets traded on draft night the option is automatically picked up. Non-Guarantees can be traded at any point (which is why TOs have been abandoned and why NG's are so prevalent now). Brendan Haywood's non-guarantee has value IRL because he can be traded at any point this summer and subsequently waived for savings by the receiving team. This isn't possible in 2K because his option year will need to be picked up before the offseason even begins.

2K needs to revamp their whole offseason engine and add guarantee years. The next CBA is just around the corner and non-guarantees are only becoming more prevalent.

Agree on all accounts.

The inability to control who is UFA and who is RFA is another killer.

Hopefully this is all looked into next year. In the MyLeague wishlists, it's the first thing I list. Forget DLeague, forget Summer League, forget adding anything. I just want all the CBA's rules to exist FIRST. I want to be able (just for fun, since I love 30 team control regardless) to play a 1 team MyGM and not have to feel the need to hold everyones hand, which is why I don't play MyGM...since well, I can't do that.

At this point, if you're like us and care about this type of detail level, you have no choice but to control 30 teams and manually edit numbers, options, manually make sign and trades, etc.

I want guys to be able to play 2k the way we do without having to have the Salary Cap FAQ up on their laptop next to them. I want that thang already in the game! Lol

Been wishing for the real CBA to be used for years now, hopefully 2K implement it next year. I was so happy that they are discussing sign and trades too, everything needs to be included with the CBA. BTW, I normally do contracts myself, time consuming. I used spotrac.com for that...

Yeah I never use only one source, cause it's important to cross reference anything you find, but spotrac is one of the sites I used for finding extra details. Their numbers aren't always the most reliable, but they're good for things like finding out guarantee dates, trade kickers, etc.

Yeah man it's definitely time consuming, that's why I wanted to have this guide for everyone!

FWIW sign & trade has been largely dis-empowered, which is why you saw the Suns trade Dragic at the deadline rather than standing pat. Teams are more focused on having cap space simply because they value 1st rounders highly and those are the cost of getting sign/trades done if you are over the cap.

Yeah, the new CBA kind of killed that but it's still nice to have. Phoenix was smart about trading Dragic, they knew two of his three preferred destinations(New York & L.A.) would have the cap space this summer so he would've walked. I was happy we got him and I was all excited about the rest of the season until the Bosh news came out. Teams do value 1st rounders higher now than they used to but I think they value early second round picks more because the contracts aren't guaranteed, 1st rounders are more in demand.
