anybody ever get lucky in the lottery?

Seems like unless you're in the top 5 at best you might be the 13th ranked team and win the 12th draft spot at best. Anybody ever get a high draft pick despite being a 10-15 seed?

Best I've done is getting the 8th pick as a 12th seed

No, but one time I was playing my Myleague and I was #4 and got the second pick and the Kings at #11 got the 1st overall pick and I was like wtf...

Same here first season Portland somehow went just .510 wins and were the 12th rank.Lottery goes on and they get the #2 pick.Imagine Portland with their current core getting Jahlil Okafor .(NYK with #1 selected Karl Towns)
Meanwhile with the 2nd worst record ,i ended up with the #6 pick.

That's impossible so either you're lying or don't remember correctly, or maybe you're talking about conference standing and not lottery chances.... in which case it would actually still be impossible for the 1st one.

The team with the 12th best lottery odds can only get the following picks:

1st, 2nd, 3rd, 12th, 13th and 14th... with the latter two being highly unlikely because the 13th or 14th team would need to both move into the top 3.

Teams in the lottery can only move up by actually "winning" the lottery and being drawn to move into the top 3, or move down by a team below them doing the same. It is impossible for the 12th best odds team to pick 8th and for the 13th best odds team to pick 12th.

what are you talking about? thats not how the lottery works at all, at least not in 2k.

The real NBA Lottery only selects the top 3 spots in the draft, with the rest following by record position. No matter what your rank is in the lottery, you will either get 1st, 2nd, 3rd, n, n-1, n-2, or n-3 (where n is your pre lottery position).

It seems that whenever I'm in the lotto I always get unlucky.
