Online Team Play?

I am very inexperienced with basketball games in general, so I had a question about this year's offering. I know online franchises seem to be back this year in my league, but can you go through the franchise with friends on the team controlling individual players? If so, can they be created players?

The only online TEAM PLAY modes are single exebition games (5v5 ALLSTAR TEAMUP/ TEAM UP private lobby) or the very arcade MYPARK / JRC. If you want to play season mode with your friend try share play (not optimal) or have him drop by for a few games.

So I can't do team franchise, but I can do a team 5v5 online exhibition with our own created players?

The Pro-Am mode lets you create a team where you can play 5v5 games against other users with your created players. If there are only 3 of you on at a time, the CPU will control the other 2 generic players on your team. You need to have at least 3 to play though. The mode will keep track of your win/loss record, and I believe there is some stat-tracking as well (not 100% on that), but it's not a full fledged season.
