I agree. I had a look at the controls and I'd like to know the difference betwen quick shuffle and ...I can't remember what the other one is called.

Thing is defense has changed so it'd be nice to know about those changes haha

This is one these situations where Mike should pop in and give us a breakdown

Yes, for us, those minimal videos are sufficient to explain the very basic premise of some of things offered in videos. However, the videos are a joke in terms of actually teaching basketball/stick skills.

Madden does this great thing where it explains, oh why do we run a curl flat concept? This is because a single corner can't cover both, leaving you with an open option. Here, practice this and get it right.

Offering the same level of sophistication + practice to basketball concepts would lead to a much larger group of competitive players over time.

ie. How do we guard the pick and roll against shooters? This is the setting, practice manually controlling the defender to go through the screen to prevent the open 3.

Do kind of wish there were more videos for those brand new to the controls but I suppose it gets you started.

PS Dribbling controls are SICK. You can branch out of any move, stepback, gather, etc. You definitely will need practice mode to master them.

That's all very well for people who played 2k15 but what about new players?
This is the first nba 2k game I bought and I was pretty excited about it. With the exception of a few very brief tutorials that gloss over some bare essentials, there is nothing to help a new player.

I can go in to a freeplay mode and practice shooting but there's nothing other than actual games to practice shooting with defenders. I've looked up youtube videos which give tips on how to make use of advanced plays but I don't know how to set up plays in the first place.

Took me long enough to figure out how to rebound, defend etc. Certainly nothing in the game that teachers you basics like that. Let alone explain what all the layers and layers of coaching options and plays are for.

I'm sick of losing nearly every game I play against the computer. The only people I see praising this game are people who have already learnt to play earlier ones that apparently did have tutorials walking you through how to play it.

Go into practice mode. Do freestyle to learn and practice dribbling and shooting moves and scrimmage to practice defense, running plays, etc.

Re: No tutorials in 2k16?

There used to be a post moves practice. I miss the old post controls from 2k10 and 2k11 too. There was a post, up and under dribble to gather move that was smooth, that they took out. Never really got used to the new post controls post 2k11.
