2k needs a 'ball hawk' like feature for the paint.

For those thats dont know, on madden there's a feature called 'ball hawk' where you hold triangle it assists with interceptions. I used to hate the feature considering i was a user that prodded himself on his use picks and the skill used to position myself to get them. I felt it was cheap and was a crutch until i played online.It actually allowed me to effectively defend despite the lag and get the reaction time i did off line on short passes.

Fast forward to 2k where the lag is worse and almost every pass is essentially a 3yrd curl and it becomes apparent that some assistance is needed to counter the darts users ans the cpu can throw. Nothing 100% successful, but it should replicate the fact that it doesn't take prime Ron Artest to bat or grab a pass thrown directly at them in the paint.

Sorry but no. Playing defense is already too assisted. Automatic shot contest, box out assistance, on ball defense assistance. What's next ?

When there's lag its nessecery. Anything is better then swatting for a ball a half second late because of delay and giving up bucket after bucket.

On ball defense assistance strenght : 100%
Box out assistance strenght : 100%

Meh as long as there isnt a 100% success rate i dont see an issue. Is any of those OP in your opinion?

2k12 used to allow you to use the r stick to hold both hands up to deflect passes. This was very effective at stopping paint passes. Especially the 3 foot dump pass over a defender. Now you will hold the r stick and your guys will not keep their hands up and passes go right over your head. Just let us hold both hands up with the r stick consistently and that would be a big help to deflect passes.

I like the idea of ball hawk. But i dont like cpu assistance on defense.

Auto contest is the worst option in 2k. Its fake and i have no idea why auto contest is even allowed as an option when on a simulation setting. Being able to turbo around on defense and contest every shot instantly is very OP.

Maybe all paint passes should be like alley oops, so the offensive player cant just mow through defenders to catch passes.

there's a multitude of different issues here.

the two important ones are the lead passes and the inability to make concrete risk/reward decisions on defense.

Lead passes take priority and good defense is completely negated vs these passes. (see lead-pass discussion)

The inability to make concrete choices is another thing.

What OP wants isn't a "OP super catch button from Madden" rather, the ability to choose to grab the ball rather than deflect it.

In basketball, you can do risky things and conservative things.

But we can't choose between the two. Particularly for deflecting passes.

I want a "catch the ball button". I also want a "deflect the ball button".

One is obviously more risky than the other, but it's my choice and my consequences.

They should be like oops in that you cant zip through traffic to catch them. Also there shouldnt be any over the shoulder catches as a player dives to the rim as there are now. There should be a window where players roll/cut to the rim look for the ball that you have to pass it in, otherwise they're not looking and it's a turnover.

Never saw auto contest as OP. Maybe the effort should be tied to the hustle rating, but it's another effective tool online when lag is an issue.
