I have the connection with my team but I'm not sure how to actually do these ? Anyone have an idea ?

Just select the connections you want to get. As time passes, they will randomly pop up as off-day activities.

You can't select them and just do them right away.

and you won't get the items associated with the player connection until you actually choose to connect with them on a separate off day? So, that means just having them as 1 of your 10 connections doesn't just give you the items right away?
