PLAYERS WITH WIDE OPEN SHOTS DIVING TO THE PAINT WHEN YOU PASS TO THEM?!?!?!

Seriously, why does this happen with EVERY 2K? I have icon lead passing on and on top of that I lead the player into the spot furthest away from traffic just to be safe and the open man is still diving into the paint. This even happens for players who are ONLY good at shooting, it's ridiculous. Does anyone else have this problem or can someone tell me how to fix it?

Below is an example of players paint diving, if I actually saved every time it happens I'd run of of space in my 1TB hard drive:

Start at 14 seconds, I'm using the control to lead Middleton up to the corner yet he runs towards the basket

100% agree with you I play with the bucks and nothing frustrates me more when I'm trying to pass it to the corner for three only for my guys to drive and it gets tipped and ends up being a turnover. Why would copeland drive to paint where there are defenders.

Your video is a bad example (because that is actually what he's supposed to do) but it happens a lot. The paint could literally be packed with people and my guys will all converge into it anyway when the corners are unguarded.

If you're talking about the game making you do a lead pass into the paint to people that are standing open away from the paint (leading to a turnover), that has been happening in 2k for years.

Well if that's the case the right basketball play then we'd never have people open for jumpers in this game. Because if that's the logic that means whenever a player is open you're suggesting that him diving to the paint is the right thing to do simply because it's the "right basketball play". This is just 1 example of many.

Good thing you edited your original comment...

Diving for the rim when there's no defender between you and the rim should be a no brainer decision no matter what. I would choke the h*ll out of a player if he took an open jumper instead of going in for the uncontested dunk/layup.

However, your video was a bad example.

Bruh don't let your rage take away your better judgement. That turned into a 2v2 fastbreak and the paint defender was edging toward the ball handler. If I would've gone to the corner to shoot a 3 in that situation when I was playing ball, whether I made the shot or not my butt was going to the bench.

I'm not saying it doesn't happen, it's been happening in 2k for a while now. But I cannot look at that play and understand you being mad at anything other than Middleton blowing the layup.

Bad example but Eric Gordon is the king of this for me, homie refuses to stay in position for a catch and shoot situation.

Re: PLAYERS WITH WIDE OPEN SHOTS DIVING TO THE PAINT WHEN YOU PASS TO THEM?!?!?!

What can you do about this?

On a fastbreak, the first two players moving towards the basket will continue moving. Always. If someone is not moving towards the paint, they will be standing. If they are standing, they won't move (on a fastbreak). Sometimes the 4th or 5th player to arrive will stand at the 3pt line. Just run a fast break, pause the game and watch a replay. If you do this 5-50 times you will be able to anticipate what your players are trying to do.

On a normal halfcourt set, players are moving according to spacing, plays, POE. Often, if the guy receiving the pass has an open/semi open shot, the player passing the ball will dive to the paint immediately. So if your PG was passing the ball it is usually a bad idea to pass the ball back to that guy. But it all depends on the type of offense. Watching replays helps. It also helps that players are diving towards the paint. Cause you might be able to feed them. Watching the replay helps.

The 3rd way of avoiding this is holding the pass button, so you can move your PG if you want to pass the ball back to him. In your video this could have lead to a jumpshot by the guy passing to Middleton.

I've watched video again. Carter-Williams after making the pass moves toward the 3pt line. When you make (miss) the layup, he runs towards the paint, probably trying to rebound. The other guys are running towards the paint. Probably hoping to dunk or rebound the ball .

I've been generating tons of turnovers until I tried to understand what my players were trying to do. Watching replays helps.

No conversation about this is complete unless we know what POE's were in place at the time.

This was true even last year.

If the user has POE as get shooters open, that cut is fr less likely to happen. If POE is basically anything else, the AI is biased to get the higher percentage shot near the rim.

So, what were the POE's in this video?

This was at its worst in NBA 2K12....I've gotten in the habit of lead passing my guys toward the 3 point line to make sure it doesn't happen....

It's on neutral, I'll change it to get players open and see what happens. Playing a game now, but you guys cant deny that it doesnt happen. And for people saying it's a bad example, you don't see that I'm trying to lead pass to them in the corner for a corner 3, so it's taking away control over what I want to do.

It's a fast break lmao, why would a player give up a two to one break to stand on the corner?

A two on one with both offensive players filling the lane correctly and you wanted a corner three?!

                              That's borderline blasphemy!

Anyway, this is kind of my point in the shot make thread. This is why people want threes all the time, because playing the high percentage shots isn't really a factor in 2K games. It would be if more open shots missed like they should ;/.
