It means you unlock them to use as a connection in mycareer.

It means that you will unlock that player's connection.
For example, Carmelo Anthony unlocks Spike Lee, and both of those complete unlock Michael Jordan.

Yeah I know it too... Doesn't work with Michael Jordan though I tried it 10+ times literally every off day. Definitely works with other guys though.
