Stopping Westbrook and Durant?

Playing as the Bulls against OKC, I could NOT stop both Durant and Westbrook. Durant was lighting me up, I focused on him, then Westbrook took over. Lost to OKC 104-96. Westbrook had 44 on almost 60% shooting, Durant had 38 on 70% shooting. So they combined for 82 of 104 team points. They were hitting acrobatic lay ups, contested 3's off picks, and and pretty much doing whatever they wanted.

Tips for slowing them down? I even tried playing off ball defense to let the CPU guard them, didn't matter. That actually may have made it worse.

Step 1 - acquire two GOAT defenders -- peak Artest and peak Payton is who I'd choose.
Step 2 - don't double team
Step 3 - don't jump in the air, stay on the ground
Step 4 - hope they miss their shots.

I try to put everything I can into shutting one down, usually Westbrook. Force Westbrook into taking threes and contested jumpers, and take his drive and kick ability out of the game. I just accept that Durant is going to get his.

Hedge hard on pick and rolls with Westbrook (unless Durant is setting the pick), and force Russ to pass to his bigs. I also set my defensive settings on Durant to smother off-ball to take out drive and kicks to him, making Russ pass to Ibaka, Waiters, Kanter, Adams, etc., who are much easier to defend than Durant.

Since you're Chicago, I'd look into free agency to see if you can acquire a defense-first wing with enough size to check KD. And then I'd put Butler on Russ, and Rose on their two-guard. Otherwise you'll have to check Russ with Rose and Durant with Butler.

MyLeague, so no choosing a different team or picking up players from historical teams.

I had Butler on Durant, didn't seem to matter.

Really not too concerned about one game, nor the 2nd game against OKC later in the season. Just thinking ahead in case we were to meet in the Finals, or if I started a new MyLeague with either Utah or Portland, which I might do.

Durant had 17 early in the 2nd quarter on 7 of 8 shooting.

Another issue is the number of minutes both Westbrook and Durant play. I think they both played over 40 minutes each. There were several minutes in both the 1st and second half when they were matched up with Aaron Brooks and Tony Snell when I had Rose and Butler out of the game. That did not go well at all.

I think the game is programmed so that you can't stop KD once he gets going. You can contain him for <10 in the first half pretty easy but if he hits 2-3 shots in a row he is going to be hot until the end of the game
