Re: NBA 2K16 Official Jumpshots Thread

So I'm having the same issues but I have a little feedback to add as well.

First off, I believe there is an apparent difficulty setting difference between Park, Pro-Am Walk On, and Pro-Am Arena. I believe that My Park is on All-Star difficulty, Walk-On is on Superstar and Arena is on HOF. How does everyone else feel?

Secondly, I'm using a balanced scoring 6'7" PG. All of my shooting stats cap off at 79 or 80.

My Park

Pre Patch 3, my shots were consistent and never over the top. Just what I expected. If I chose smart shots, I was successful. Post Patch 3, I went on a 27 game win streak with my squad. I used Damian Lillard on Quick. I shot higher than 70% in most of those games from mid-range and beyond the arc. Note that I was abusing the corner specialist badge on this run but it was consistent inside the arc from anywhere. I'm not a park player, but I had no qualms with shooting here.

Pro-Am Walk On

I do not recall using Lillard in Walk On mode. The shots did not fall easily but I still had success in most games (20+ points). This is fine for me as I feel that Pro-Am should be more sim as possible. I switched to Rudy Gay on Normal and scored 25 and 35 in two separate games with randoms. I also tested Lance Stephenson's release on Normal and hit a few greens before I quit the game only because I was testing the release. The day patch 3 was released, I tested LMA on quick and dropped 30 including a couple of pull up jumpers from behind the arc that surprised me once they went in. Too OP again. Scoring was overall consistent but not nearly as explosive as My Park.

Pro-Am Arena

Now, this is where everything goes left. I haven't scored consistently or over 20+ since patch 3. Before patch 3, I would regularly have 20+ games and a couple of 30 point games. I would normally shoot around 40-50% which has now dwindled to regular games of 16% shooting. Damian Lillard on quick is straight trash in this mode after a 4/22 shooting performance. Also tested quick releases 46, 110, Lillard and Melo. Trash. Then I tested normal releases Melo, Gay and Stephenson. Not trash, but inconsistent on wide open shots from mid to long. Overall, Arena is my favorite mode and I'm struggling since patch 3. However, I believe the release timing is glitched, not the actual jumpers themselves. Thoughts?

For now, I think the trick may be to switch jumpers between modes. With that being said, what Pro-Am arena jumpers have y'all had success with? If you have a tiny outside guard with 90+ shooting though, that may not be beneficial to most of us though lol.

Switching jumpers between modes is something many are consistent with - I learned this in 15.

Like you, Lillard is terrible for me in Pro Am Arena regardless of patches... it's money in Park though... I end up scrapping Lillard for a jumper that's more stable between all modes..

Good to see that I'm not the only one. Hey, do you think connection speed is ever a factor to be considered or is that grasping for straws?

Connection stability would be more of an isolated issue and not something we can all relate to...

AS A TIP

Difficulty in your My Career mode also influences your shot timing which further influences your shot success. I currently enter Pro Am with All Star on Default and have most success with that: usually greens on middies and end with about fifty:fifty or better on 3s.

Using All Star on Default in Park doesn't yield the same success but I haven't hopped in park in over 3 weeks so I still need to attune myself there. Finally picked back up to Park tonight and sure enough it plays nothing close to Pro Am... I'm shooting poor in Park and even my defense is sluggish compared to Pro Am.

I don't really fill myself with thoughts pondering why the modes play so different though... I just adjust and keep it moving and play with the system instead of going against it...

Good luck to you though homie, practice some new jumpers, new shot timings and consider my tip.. try going into Park with various difficulty settings on separated nights and see which one yields the most consistent desired results...

I appreciate the thorough response fam but you hit on something major that we have to speak towards! lol

I've always had a hunch that the difficulty that you headed into online modes with may affect your shot timing, but never brought it up. After reading what you said, I'm sure it may affect timing but NOT percentage, which would make total sense. I had a pretty good game last night and I believe I headed into Pro-Am on "pro" difficulty. I'll explore this a bit more.

What about heading into Pro-Am as a team? Do you think the host's difficulty setting overrides your own once you load in?

You're right. I'm a knock down shooter (as I should be) in Pro Am, but I constantly brick wide open looks in MyPark. 2K isn't being transparent about these settings.

Regarding your last question: the host difficulty seems to have no influence or conflict on your own setting. This is based on my own eye test and feel test.

A little tidbit: when you are on someone else's my court: you are using your gameplay settings that load from your main 2k splash menu. If you all play a 1v1 game however you will be using the host settings.

You can test my my court tidbit by setting your main gameplay settings on the main 2k menu to 100 game speed and Rookie and for kicks even boost a few sliders to 100 lol. Your teammates on your friends my court will marvel but don't expect those same results to carry over to Pro Am lol

THIS is hands down the best advice I've ever received for 2K.

I would almost always enter online games under superstar sim since this is the rumored difficulty setting of park/pro-am. I would do this in order to test jumpers out. So, basically this may explain why my shooting was erratic after patch 3.

I applied my settings to Pro/Default (my usual badge hunting difficulty) and my shooting is better than ever. Almost back to patch 1 levels. I also equipped an easier release but I believe the settings are a bigger influence. Wide open jumpers are falling again. I've had several games with 50-60% shooting and one standout game going 100% perfect from the field. Of course, these were all good shots or relatively wide open.

Again, thanks! Patch 3 is not so bad now that I've learned this.

Are you on XB1 or PSN by the way?
