What do the assistant coach and trainer affect again?

I've been googling for 20 minutes trying to find the answer to my dumb question.

Is the trainer related to injury recovery or player progression? Is the assistant coach related to player progression or in-game performance? I'm confused

I think the assistant coach works in combination with HC for game performance -

The trainer is almost exclusively aligned with injury recovery and prevention, and durability.
Not sure a poor trainer might affect fatigue levels though.


The HC - and maybe AC off the top of my head - effect player development - hence "potential" rating for coaches.

I thought the potential ratings were more to do with how fast the actual staff member improves?

I actually thought that was common knowledge. You just blew my mind.

Somebody confirm or deny?

I was under the same assumption.


I can say that trainer level does affect how many training camps you have in the off season. Lost my old A- trainer and signed a high potential C- trainer and went from 7 off season camps to 4.

Really? I had an A trainer in a MyLeague i had with the Warriors and i only had 2 training camps.

I've only ever even seen 1 or 2 training camps available, but 7 or 4???

I only get 2 training camps per year in MyLeague.

What is the importance of a coach, trainer, assistant coach etc? Do they have any effect on player progression?

I've seen only 3 training camps. I've also simmed seasons and seen the coach grades drop but only after I have bumped up the grade. For example Byron Scott was a C- so I ededited him and made him a A simmed a season and he went down to a B-
