The Computer Is Too Stupid To Do Simple Basketball

Dear NBA 2K

Why do you not fix the damn on court spacing?

Why Kyle Korver can be wide open in the corner, behind the three point line and he steps up to take a midrange jumpshot? He's a 94 whatever rated 3 point shooter.

Why when running pick and fades with a three point shooting big man like Ibaka, why he pick and fade in the paint and runs into the big man? Like you gotta do the pick and fade at half court.

Why this stuff happens when it never happened before? Not only left stick passing is bad, the spacing is bad. The damn player type logic is bad.


This is why I just play Park.

The Tendencies or Hotspots or whatever in this game, defies simple basketball logic. If you a 3 point shooter, you should stay behind the freaking line. If you are D Wade, I don't mind you stepping up. That's smart. If you are Kyle Korver...then no, what are you doing.

If you are a jumpshooting big man, don't go near the damn paint.

You got three point shooters in corners stepping up to take jumpshots.

You got big men that can shoot running fading all in the way the paint.

The computer is dumb.

And on top of that, it doesn't matter if you put it on space the floor. If you put it on 1-4, Swing, Warriors, Hawks.

What is the point of my input then if players just gonna do what they wanna do because of these stupid tendencies settings.

The only way to fix this dont use 2k official roster and their sliders. Its straight garbage. I play MyCareer so I dont have a choice but to use their garbage rosters and sliders. But everything you describe is true. When I pass the ball to my teammates in MYcareer, they could of just take a jumpshot. But nooooo they have to do a step up move then take a worse contested shot. Im just patiently waiting for the full release of Simballer Rosters.

I personally feel that spotting up is stupid myself. I don't how many times I got guys like CJ Miles and Paul George who in the midst of a play will spot up three feet behind the line preventing you from taking advantage of it.

The other thing that happens is that if they do spot up they aren't ready to shoot and allow the defense to get there before they begin their shot.

The way I see it, these things happen because of what the defense is in and your offensive player is "subsconsciously" responding to that defense being applied.

As an off hand example of this happening, there's a horns play in my Pacers playbook that sets up a back door screen into the paint and yet sometimes the guy won't make the cut even though it's wide open. Instead he will go out of the play and step away from the cutting lane and stop.

I am not making excuses for 2K here but I just chalk up some of the odd things that happen as a clue to the way to read the defense and the game not knowing how to respond to all the input it has and making those defensive settings effective.

It's the movement system. It's so fake that you can't take one step without taking 3. That's why players don't step into a 3 point shot, and instead take a dumb deep 2.

Are you finished or will this continue in every constructive criticism(a term I use loosely) thread made in this forum on a daily basis? It's ok to have opinions shared both ways where everyone should get along, for or against instead of back bickering/nitpicking/only one way thinking thread.

Yes, I see the same things the OP does.

Yes, this game needs improvement in some areas.

Yes, this game still plays a good game of basketball, despite some of the shortcomings.

And yes, I feel the 2k developers are working on 17 at this time.

Hopefully, they will be able to tune the game up for peoples issues with the game next fall, including mine.

Also, I hope no one likes my post or else you may become labeled on a video game basketball forum, of all places./sarcasm
