Of course but defensively he's been solid on ball wise , his still takes an occasional nap on the back door cuts tho.

His assist still lacking to the offense not being ran through him more than it should and that our role players don't show up often . Plus the fact Butler has become a bit of a ball stopped this year similar to Melo going for isos at the elbow much . The game vs the Kings was one of the few games this year our team actually had very good ball movement and we allowed Rose to run the show which he's capable of . He racked up 9 assist but he had a lot of turnovers some that weren't his fault . Butler needs to learn to play in the offense more instead of doing his own thing , he's not a superstar yet despite his good play and him bringing the ball up and going ISO much causes a lot of ball watching that's not ideal for Fred's offense .

Rose has to keep up his good play for his numbers on paper to look better but 17 ppg shooting 45% is a lot better than the 15 ppg on terrible efficiency .

Sasha Vujacic should have about a 68 or 69 for three point shooting, not a 60.

Butler is the best player on the Bulls and blaming Rose's struggles on him is a bonafide joke.

Butler isn't a "superstar" but unlike Rose he's actually an all-star and clear-cut top 3 at his position.

Playing against a garbage defense will do that.

Play Type Data

Derrick Rose
ON-BALL SCORING (56% of Offense)
46% PnR Ball: 0.82 PPP (62nd Percentile)
10% Isolation: 0.76 PPP (46th Percentile)
OFF-BALL SHOOTING
15% Spot-Up: 0.91 PPP (44th Percentile)
3% Hand-Off: 0.79 PPP (34th Percentile)
1% Off-Screen: 1.00 PPP (65th Percentile)
MISC. ATHLETICISM
13% Transition: 0.81 PPP (9th Percentile)
3% Basket Cut: 0.81 PPP (4th Percentile)
2% Putback: 0.79 PPP (13th Percentile)

Jimmy Butler
ON-BALL SCORING (50% of Offense)
31% PnR Ball: 0.89 PPP (78th Percentile)
13% Isolation: 1.00 PPP (83rd Percentile)
6% Post-Up: 0.92 PPP (73rd Percentile)
OFF-BALL SHOOTING
10% Spot-Up: 0.97 PPP (57th Percentile)
6% Hand-Off: 1.06 PPP (78th Percentile)
5% Off-Screen: 0.87 PPP (38th Percentile)
1% PnR Roll: 1.40 PPP (97th Percentile)
MISC. ATHLETICISM
13% Transition: 1.12 PPP (55th Percentile)
9% Basket Cut: 1.55 PPP (94th Percentile)
2% Putback: 1.35 PPP (92nd Percentile)

Butler's role in the offense has nothing to do with Derrick Rose losing a step or five athletically.... or anything to do with Rose's mediocre shot for that matter. Rose still dominates the ball and Butler is very far from being a Melo/Harden type.

Isolation Stats
28% James Harden: 0.96 PPP (406 possessions)
25% Carmelo Anthony: 0.91 PPP (261 possessions)
20% LeBron James: 0.86 PPP (236 possessions)
18% DeMar DeRozan: 0.88 PPP (212 possessions)
16% Paul George: 0.82 PPP (190 possessions)
15% Damian Lillard: 1.01 PPP (168 possessions)
15% Kevin Durant: 1.07 PPP (163 possessions)
12% Russell Westbrook: 0.72 PPP (157 possessions)
23% Julius Randle: 0.65 PPP (156 possessions)
19% Jahlil Okafor: 0.81 PPP (152 possessions)
18% Danilo Gallinari: 0.86 PPP (151 possessions)
18% Kobe Bryant: 0.66 PPP (149 possessions)
13% Reggie Jackson: 0.88 PPP (133 possessions)
13% Jimmy Butler: 1.00 PPP (130 possessions)
11% DeMarcus Cousins: 0.59 PPP (128 possessions)

Butler is a lot of things. Ineffective ball-stopper ain't one of them.

Good post. May I ask what service you got the play type data from?
