Who else is doing it ?
I have actually tried this the first time for 2k16. It makes the game feel less like watching on TV and makes me feel more involved, also helps to focus on important stuff, i.e. on the court.
The only awkward thing is that the halftime show cannot be fully skipped and w/o commentary the studio guys will also be muted.

Yeah, they really gotta make it so you can still hear the Doris Burke Interview and the TNT guys talking even if you turned off commentary.

I turn it off a lot, especially in MyCareer mode where you hear the same thing 1,000 times.
