its looking more like a patch thing with how Rocket league is doing it. There isnt a new game coming out that allows Xbox/PC, they're just adding it to the game through a patch. Hopefully, Ubisoft does the same with The division to let Xbox and PC players play together

Not sure why people would think it would have an impact on the servers. All they're doing is "combining" the servers instead of having a dedicated server for each platform. It's like having two separated hotel room that are adjoined to each other, then deciding to tear down the wall between them. To the user, the overall RANDOM experience shouldn't change or would be seamless. It's not like the players are going to have a choice whether or not they want to play either XB1 or PS4 users only.

Personally, I'm more interested in how this will impact game invites and party chat.

Correction: I read the other linked article, and it looks like Microsoft will give players the option only to play other XBL players.

You would be at a dis-advantage in versus online if that was to happen.. Mouse/Keyboard is known to be faster aiming than a console controller... While also throwing in refresh rates and frame rates too..

To tell the truth, in third person games and especially in cover based games like this one, that advantage isn't really a advantage... I mean I play with a controller now on pc and haven't been destroyed

Can't wait to see console players dealing with hackers/cheaters, at least 2k will be forced to do something about it.

This is what I was thinking but wasn't sure if that was oversimplifying it
