    Hopstep Help

Lol kinda sad, but uh I got no idea how to do hopsteps in this game.

I guess I like the spin layups and euro steps more, but it would kinda help if I had access to every way to score on a drive.

Xbox One by the way, just so I don't get confused on buttons.
I don't wanna be Jordan, I don't wanna be Bird or Isiah, I don't wanna be any of those guys.
I want to look in the mirror and say I did it my way.

    Re: Hopstep Help

As you're running in, change your joystick to the direction you want to hop, and tap squard or X. Afterwards Hold X again to lay it up, or you can tap it to pump until you decide to lay it up.

So basically like a pump fake but while holding the analog stick left or right?

OMG I've been having the same problem myself. Since day one.... I've even been trying to get it down in a certain area. But doesn't work at all for me.

But thank you for the tip! I'm going to try that out tonight.

So in the gif you posted. Your pressing it Sqaure.X while left stick is pointed forward. And then pressing sqaure/x while left stick is pointed to the left for the second time?

I avoid hopsteps on purpose because of the high strip rate

Mostly correct, except he is pressing the stick towards the right to trigger the right hop step direction.

No, just before you tap square/x the first time, you quickly move the LS to the side u wanna hop step to, in this gif to the right, then hold square/x to finish (or tap for pump fake or pass out of it)

Try it with the Jamaal Crawford Layups for mycareer or at blacktop, so easy and powerful esp at the park.

Really? You mean for Pro Am cause the paint is packed?

It became my go to move at the park tho. The Jamaal Crawford layup is almost cheesy, not even almost, it is.
My Outside 6'10 SF with just 6 bars in Inside (I think im at 50 driving layup) kills oposing bigs 4 out of 5 times and it also works great with all my guards, the best thing is, you dont even have to finish...wide open teammate everytime afterwards.

Dont wanna lie, but I do this move so often and rareley get stripped, once in a while sure, but not nearly as often as I get stripped when going for dunks or basic layups.

Got it. I'm best with Aldridge and even Timmy utilizing post drop-steps if that's what your referring to. Boogie cousins and Shaq (I peep your vids) can be dominate with them...

Back down and establish position, tap square (or x) towards the baseline and that will trigger the drop-step towards the baseline. Tapping it in the opposite direction will trigger a hop-step into the middle of the paint. I find the latter more effective after I've utilized the baseline drop-step a few times. It's also a great move to use when you have a mismatch and there's a mouse in the house..

Once you have your post game established, utilize pump fakes after your drop-steps and it'll get ugly for the defense.

Also, don't forget you have the step-back mechanism pulling the stick away from the defender and tapping square (or x), which is great for post players like Leonard, Bron Bron, A. Davis and KD.

The post game is probably the most under utilized beauty of the 2K series.

I wasn't really looking for drop step help. I got that down. But thank you!!! I know someone is copying a them right now lol.

But the move I'm trying to chain together is Spin move into hop step into hook shot/dunk. I have been able to spin move in step back (Can't really do that with Shaq).

And I know how to set up my opponent with fakes lol.

Ooo dam, well I hope I helped someone else after all that I wrote, smh.

But that's even easier, after a hop step, hold it step in the direction you'd like to hook. I find the shot stick (is it even called that anymore) is better for what you are trying to accomplish as it is more precise for that instance. You also will need proper momentum for the spin and other animation to initiate.

                      Practice mode, jeebs!
