Re: Scoring Droughts
My suggestion would be, if the shot grades are working on your nerves to that degree, then turn them off. Just play the game and don't worry so much about the slot-machine numbers determining the outcomes in the background.
Kevin Durant had a horrible shooting night his last game. He got several wide open shots during that stretch (which probably would have been B+ or higher grades in 2K). And then the shot he finally made was a moving, off a flare screen, contested 3-pointer from the top of the arc. Probably the hardest shot he took all night.
Isiah Thomas had a number of great looks during Game 1 but just couldn't get it going. Then at the end of the game he pulls up from 4 feet behind the arch and buries one with two guys in his face.
Sometimes when you can't hit, the open shots are the hardest ones to knock down because you think about it too much. On difficult shots, you turn the brain off and just let it fly. Sometimes that's what allows you to finally knock one down. It happens. I seriously doubt this mechanic is in the game, but the point is that if you turn the feedback off and just play the game, this stuff isn't as aggravating. Sometimes teams/players go cold and you just have to work through it as best you can. And sometimes it's a miracle shot that gets you out of a shooting slump.
