I know that the older basketball games had a 41 or 43 game season mode, but have not seen this option available for a long time now and always wonder why they programmed it out? Now I would not have much use for this offline, but for a online franchise it seem like the perfect length to use for it.

Because you would play some teams twice and some teams once. With a 58 game option you play each team twice, once at home and once away.

True, but if I pick the clippers I would rather play every West team twice and the East only once. Always felt odd to play the east the same amount of time as the west in a season.
