Re: Quit Forcing us to use nicknames

The forced nickname thing is pretty stupid IMO. In Saints Row your character didn't have a name for the other people to say but they still carried on conversations with him/her(when the character could finally talk) pretty well. They'd also be more believable with better voice actors.

Re: Quit Forcing us to use nicknames

I can see both sides of it.

In a perfect world I would l would love for the voice actors to record different lines for every name in the database...I just know thats not realistic.

I also wouldnt want for them to refer to the player in generic terms...'you' 'he' etc.

So the nickname is a happy medium for me. I would definitely welcome more branching choices to really personalize the experince though...

One thing I would definitely not want is to return to pure text...thats what turned me off to this mode in the first place...

It can be done. Fallout 4 had an update where the NPCs said whatever name you picked for your character (if it was in the system) So OP is right. No excuse

Fallout 4 took 8 years to release...talk to me when 2K has that kinda time to make one game. All I'm trying to get at is, 2K is a company that wants to do things perfectly it takes more than 9 months to get this type of stuff down perfectly. Because you have to get the actor into the studio for the recording time plus work on other sound aspects of the game such as crowds and game atmosphere, which we can all agree is 1000X more important than choosing your own name.

Yea, this has to stop. It is especially stupid that created players in regular game modes have to have these nicknames. Annoying as hell
I have my last name in the game so it's not bad but if someone doesn't have their last name I guess just saying the number would be okay. I wish they would put the nickname dragon in. Instead of easy train or whatever

I'm sure it doesn't take 8 years to have the game say your name in MyCareer. This isn't 1994

Didnt you say it came in an update?

Fallout didnt even get it done in those 8 years, lol

In all seriousness though, its apples and oranges comparing those two games...I would love it but I dont see how can realistically be done
