This is your opinion, 2K16 was great IMO.

People complained about 2K11 all the time when it was out, nostalgia can be blinding.

What enhanced 2K11 was how crap 2K10 was in comparison.

To make such a leap in 1 dev cycle made it that much better for me. So much harder to do that now the bar is so high....

NBA 2K series has been one of the top selling sports franchises of all time. Do you think this year will be different because they are waiting till later to release info... Hmm lets see

The bottom line is marketing helps generate extra interest, but if the product is inferior, that will not matter. It will get shredded to pieces with social media nowadays. After all, social media destroyed the NBA Live/Elite fiasco with the Jesus Bynum incident lol.

Yeah it had it's flaws for sure but the game was incredible. 2K14 last gen was even better but didn't have the same impact. That shows that it's take time for developers to really master the mechanics and the engine they use for each gens. Pure gameplay has definately took a hit on this generation with the awful imput lag and overloads of animations but I believe they will get somewhere with this. We'll have a very responsive game with great footplanting sometime soon.

I can't believe we're at the point of being all hollywood where you really believe the hype is better than the ones who do the actual work on the game.

The substance keeps you not the smoke and mirrors
haha in what world, the best music, movie etc.. are never the ones that make the most money, and video games have now become an extension of Hollywood a basketball game is now being marketed as an RPG, last year we had Spike directing, it's a different world.

2K16 isn't THE 2K of this generation for sure. It's a really good game but there are too many work in progress for it to be. They're still tweaking their stuff.
