Nope, they are very confusing and time consuming...much like last year

During timeouts ... the following is basically your starting points.

During timeouts, for offensive/defensive adjustments....("adjustments" vs "sets")

(1) Press R1/L1 to toggle between Defense and Offense adjustments.
(2) Press the square button to make "adjustments"
(3) Press the triangle button for "sets"
(4) Press R2 or L2 to toggle between different adjustments.

That's pretty much it. That's the gist of it.

During timeouts ... for substitutions specifically ....

(1) push the left stick in the direction of the player that you want to select.
(2) Press R2 to bring up the substitution menu.
(3) push the right stick to highlight the substitute you want to bring in.

That's pretty much it. That's the gist of it.

Isn't it "holding down" your teammates' respective icon that calls for a pick and roll from that player?

Pick and roll:
(1) tap LB once - this brings up the icons above your teammates.
(2) hold the icon corresponding to the teammate you want to come set the screen.

Play calling:
(1) tap LB once - this brings up the icons above your teammates
(2) tap the icon corresponding to the teammate you want to call a play for.
(3) Then that box play art comes up. Press R1 or L1 to toggle through the different available plays for that player.
(4) Push the right stick in the direction of the play that you want.

I get how the menus work. They don't work well. There are too many buttons to press to do things that were previously easy to do. It's terrible.

"Isn't it "holding down" your teammates' respective icon that calls for a pick and roll from that player?"

Uh, yes. But I guess there's a useless feature for pick and rolls on the LB button, too.

And still, nobody can tell me how to make mass substitutions during a timeout.

People hate change.. I actually like the new menu system and really didn't care for the system from previous years using the D-Pas. With the new system I don't have to take my thumbs off the sticks, and I love it.

The system definitely needs some tweaking/refining though.

And what about the people that actually like it.

I don't see how it doesn't work well when it does exactly what I want, except the time-out substitutions bug. The user interface is fine in my opinion.

If you're looking for a one button massive substitution, that I do not know. Was that even available in 2k16? If I wanted a massive substitution (substituting all 5 players), I had to substitute each individual player one at a time in 2k16. The same goes with 2k17.

Maybe I'm not understanding you correctly, but why is having the pick and roll feature on the LB useless. I use that feature a lot. I use that feature not only as a pick and roll feature, but also to call my other teammate over to me, and subsequently pass them the ball. I also use that feature as a decoy as well. Call a specific teammate over, but I actually pass the ball to someone else. Call two teammates over, one after the other, rather than a pick and roll, pass the rock to a third teammate. If I have mistaken what you meant by "I guess there's a useless feature for pick and rolls on the LB button, too," then I would appreciate some clarification.

But if you're referring to having the play calling system on the LB button is useless. I don't see why that would be. Pick and roll is essentially a "play" as well, simple, but still a "play." Having individual player's "plays" on the LB makes intuitive sense. Having all "plays" on the LB simply makes sense.

Yes, the time-out substitution doesn't work as of right now, but the user interface is intuitive to me and I like it a lot. If I wanted to actually get it to work, press the "start button" and go into the substitution menu. Still have to sub in a player one by one.

Re: Am I the only one that hates the on-the-fly menus this year?

THE ENTIRE COACHING SYSTEM IS BUSTED

Whether it's play now online or offline no matter if you use the on the fly coaching or in the huddle, none of the adjustments you make actually stick.

This is a pretty crippling issue. Even if you have everything set to manual and ACE turned off.

PS4

All the defensive adjustments keep defaulting to

Some Crash, Some Run
Neutral Def
Auto.

IT DOESN'T EVEN MATTER THAT YOUR CHOICES ARE NOT HIGHLIGHTED BECAUSE YOUR CHOICES DONT ACTUALLY CHANGE. THEY ALWAYS REVERT BACK TO WHATEVER THE DEFAULT IS.

Not sure how 2K could even launch with it like this.

-THE On the fly menu shouldn't disappear after you make a choice either, it's incredibly annoying having to bring the menu up constantly to adjust your settings, in past 2k's you could adjust offense and defense in a matter of settings. The UI is a mess as well.

Put out a patch that gives the user the option of keeping the menus as they are, or using a simplified version.
