    Need help building Myplayer

I haven't played 2k since 2k14 and I'm not up to speed on how the caps and badges are implemented. I want to create a 6'3" PG with a high ability a finishing in the paint but also able to shoot better than average. Is this possible to do with this year's game? I initially created a slasher but it's impossible to score off of shooting and I'm seeing things about people creating shot creator PG's because the badges that you will receive for that archetype. I also want my pg to have at least 93 or 94 speed and tight handles. Any help would be appreciated.

Most people make Sharpshooter "Curry" or shot creator "Irving" style players as their badges make them offensive beasts, playmaker would be the most balanced archetype but would not be nearly as good as the sharpshooter at the 3 or the pull up like the shot creator.

You can't be elite in two things this year which sucks but Playmaker is average in most categories. If you need that 94 speed with and without the ball that's the archetype to go with. I just don't really like the badges for that play style. You can still earn other badges you just can't upgrade them. I would go ahead and make him 6'4". Better for finishing at the rim.

But isn't speed capped at 89 for shot creator pg's? And aren't they even slower without the ball? I want to be able to have solid lateraly quickness to stay with my man on defense.

I would look at making a 6'3 SF Point Forward.

You'll be above average in shooting (but not great), above average at driving to the basket, and will excel at Speed/Ball Control/Passing.

The only problem you might have is in the Park and ProAm because you will be guarding bigger dudes.

Yeah, I want to be able to build my guy for Pro Am and Park. Don't want to be getting bullied by bigger guys.

Well every archetype except lockdown denfender has the same defensive cap rating. Now size and weight might make a difference but not much. Shot creator is not very fast with the ball. And the speed without the ball doesn't max out for that build. Playmaker is the only one that gets max speed and acceleration and max playmaking skills. I wish they had one scoring badge. I made a slasher because of the badges. They have the second highest raid playmakers skills too but cant shot a catch and shoot shot at all. I love him so far. I always drive to the basket. But playmakers would be the best for being pretty good at everything.

Oh and the speed cap for shot creator is around the mid 80's and with the ball mid 70's. So you would have to be really creative with dribble moves to free you up for a shot.

Btw there is a guy on YouTube I can't remember his name but just search for 2k17 attribute caps and you should be able to find it... But he gives all the caps for every height at each position and does every play style (archetype). I looked at it before I made my guy. It was very helpful.

Speed with the ball is a killer for me with slasher. 77 speed is way too slow. I hope my playmaker can finish in the paint.

Also is it possible to build a playmaker PG and give him finisher, posterizer, Acrobat, and tear dropper?

Yeah the speed with the ball does suck for the slasher but it's got the second best playmaking skills. My guy is 6'4" 180 with the default wingspan. Maxed out speed with boosts is 83 for my guy. I haven't had any problems blowing by defenders. Now I have a little trouble with elite defenders but still successful. Yes you can get any badge in the game but you can only upgrade the five that come with the archetype. And you can upgrade them to Hall of Fame status. All other badges will stay bronze. I made a playmaker first and he was pretty good. I liked the speed just not badges. The slasher badges + the caps made me switch. It's got the second best speed and speed without ball maxes out. Sharpshooter looks good on paper but you won't be very fast and can't finish a contact layup at all. I've always been an attack the basket type player. Plus playing as a PG I can attack and dish it out. If you were to do a Sharpshooter or Shot Creator I would make him a Shooting Guard. For PG is either playmaker or slasher for the speed with ball.

Definitely make him 6'4" or 6'5", go with the default wingspan ( a lot of people go as short as possible just because shooting caps go up but it's only one point) and weight around 185ish . Being taller will help around the rim as a playmaker. And you won't lose much speed. My speed topped out at 99 with boost at 6'4" so at 6'5" it will be around 98 or 97 with boosts and thats ridiculous for that height

When you say "boosts", are they temporary or permanent? And if I make him that light, how much will it affect the ability to finish at the rim and what's the speed WITH the ball at 6'4" when maxed out?

The boosts are temporary unfortunately. Each category costs 200 VC to boost for one game at a time. The weight isn't a huge issue around the rim. It really just effects the cap max. So if you make your PG really light then the cap would be two or three points less on the max. It's not a huge difference. I would still take the speed over the strength. I have no problems finishing with contact against one player.

Speed with the ball maxed out on a Playmaker at 6'4" is gonna be 93 or 94 without the boost. That's with the weight at 175. Even making him 180ish it would still be in the 90's which is amazing. If you add that boost it will be above 95 and no many CPU players have that kinda speed. You can do some damage with him. My slasher at 83 speed with the ball does great against denfenders. I would definitely stick with the default wingspan. You are gonna lose a little on shooting but it's good to have for defense and rebounds.
